On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched serious accusations concerning the state's prestigious Group-1 recruitment examinations. Addressing the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister referred to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report, alleging that the former administration allowed systemic flaws to compromise the integrity of the recruitment process.
As per the investigation, evaluation protocols were severely breached. The Chief Minister revealed data indicating that answer scripts were managed by unauthorized staff, including drivers, electricians, plumbers, and data-entry operators, instead of qualified academic professionals. He questioned the decision to let such individuals assess high-level competitive exam papers.
Forensic and investigative findings highlighted significant irregularities within the answer scripts. A large portion of the evaluated scripts showed signs of tampering, such as altered handwriting, overwriting, and corrections lacking proper authentication signatures. Out of 736 examined scripts, 718 reportedly displayed unauthorized modifications. This high rate of discrepancy is central to the government's criticism of the examination's credibility.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister accused the previous government of misleading the Andhra Pradesh High Court with inaccurate grading methods. He claimed that despite the official statement of manual evaluation, evidence points towards a mixed digital and manual process involving unauthorized evaluators.
