STMAI चा आरोप आहे की चीनी कंपन्या डंपिंग करत आहेत, ओव्हर-इनव्हॉइसिंगद्वारे करचोरी करत आहेत, ज्यामुळे देशांतर्गत क्षमतेचा कमी वापर होत आहे आणि नोकऱ्या जात आहेत. तसेच, उप-दर्जाच्या पाईप्सचा पुरवठा गंभीर क्षेत्रांमध्ये झाल्यास सुरक्षेचे धोके निर्माण होतील, असा इशाराही संघटनेने दिला आहे.

सीमलेस ट्यूब मॅन्युफॅक्चरर्स असोसिएशन ऑफ इंडिया (STMAI) च्या अहवालानुसार, चीनमधून सीमलेस पाईप्स आणि ट्यूब्सच्या आयातीत लक्षणीय वाढ झाली आहे. ही वाढ वित्तीय वर्ष 2024 (FY25) मधील 2.44 लाख मेट्रिक टनांवरून FY25 मध्ये 4.97 लाख मेट्रिक टनांपर्यंत पोहोचली आहे. FY22 मधील आयातीच्या तुलनेत ही जवळपास पाचपट वाढ आहे. STMAI चे अध्यक्ष, शिव कुमार सिंघल यांनी सांगितले की, सरकारी सुरक्षा उपायांनंतरही, ही आयात वाढतच आहे, जे त्यांची अप्रभावीता दर्शवते. उद्योग संघटनेचा आरोप आहे की चीनी उत्पादक 'डंपिंग' करत आहेत, ते भारतीय बाजारात किमान आयात किमतीपेक्षा (₹85,000 प्रति टन) खूप कमी दरात पाईप्स विकत आहेत, तर चीनी पाईप्स लहान प्रमाणात सुमारे ₹70,000 प्रति टन दराने विकल्या जात असल्याचे म्हटले जात आहे. ते असेही दावा करतात की चीनी आयातदार 'ओव्हर-इनव्हॉइसिंग' द्वारे कर आणि शुल्क चुकवत आहेत, ज्यामध्ये सीमा शुल्कात वाढीव किमती जाहीर केल्या जातात आणि कमी दराने विक्री केली जाते. या प्रथेमुळे भारताच्या देशांतर्गत उत्पादन क्षमतेचा कमी वापर होत आहे आणि नोकऱ्यांचे नुकसान होत आहे. आर्थिक परिणामांव्यतिरिक्त, STMAI ने गंभीर सुरक्षा चिंता व्यक्त केल्या आहेत, ज्यामध्ये असे म्हटले आहे की थर्मल पॉवर, अणुऊर्जा आणि तेल आणि वायू यांसारख्या गंभीर क्षेत्रांमध्ये उप-दर्जाच्या सामग्रीचा पुरवठा केल्यास भारताच्या आर्थिक सार्वभौमत्वाला आणि राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षेला दीर्घकालीन धोका निर्माण होऊ शकतो.
