US ne World Bank ko kyon dala challenge?

Dekho hua yun ki jab IMF ne global economy ke slowdown ka bura haal bataya aur developing countries pe debt ka bojh badh raha hai, tabhi US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ne World Bank ke climate agenda ko "myopic" aur "nonsensical" keh diya.

Bessent ka kehna hai ki bank ko climate goals se hatkar critical minerals aur affordable energy (jismein fossil fuels bhi aate hain) ko support karna chahiye. Aur bhai, US bank ka sabse bada shareholder jo hai, toh unki baat toh sunni padegi.

Iske chakkar mein World Bank ka Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP), jo 45% lending ko climate projects ki taraf le jaane wala tha, ab June 30, 2026 tak extend toh ho gaya hai, par US ke is oppose karne se yeh plan kamzor pad sakta hai ya cancel bhi ho sakta hai.

IMF ka Warning aur Developing Nations ki Fikar

Idhar IMF ne bhi global growth ko 3.1% (fiscal year 2026 ke liye) aur inflation ko 4.4% tak rehne ka estimate diya hai. West Asian conflict aur oil prices iska bada reason hain. Agar cheezein aur kharab hui toh yeh numbers aur gir sakte hain, khaas kar emerging aur developing economies ke liye.

Isi beech, developing countries ne milkar ek naya 'Borrowers' Platform' launch kiya hai. Problem ye hai ki Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) ne 2022 aur 2023 ke beech mein jitna naya loan liya, usse $38.5 billion zyada unhone purana debt repay kiya hai. Sach mein, yeh desh loan se zyada repay kar rahe hain! LMICs ka external debt $11.7 trillion ho gaya hai 2024 mein, aur 54 desh toh debt repay karne mein health ya education se bhi zyada kharch kar rahe hain.

World Bank ke Naye Plans

Climate ke drama ke beech, World Bank ne growth aur jobs ke liye kuch naye initiatives announce kiye hain:

  • 'Pathways to Jobs': Private sector ko engage karke jobs create karne ka plan.
  • 'Water Forward': 2030 tak 1 billion logo ke liye water security ensure karne ka goal. Abhi 14 countries ne national water compacts sign kiye hain.
  • 'Agri-Jobs': 300 million farmers ko value chain mein upar le jaane ka aim, jiske liye agribusiness investment $9 billion tak double kar di gayi hai.
  • Mission 300: Sub-Saharan Africa mein 300 million logo ko electricity access dene ka plan 2030 tak.

US ka Focus Critical Minerals Par

US ka yeh climate agenda ko oppose karna aur critical minerals aur fossil fuels pe focus karna ek bada shift hai. Lagta hai US, China ke rare earths par dominance ko challenge karna chahti hai aur economic growth ko priority de rahi hai.

IMF ki buri forecasts aur West Asian oil crisis (jismein Brent crude $109 per barrel tak pahunch gaya hai) ke karan, agar energy prices aur badhti hain toh global growth 2.5% tak gir sakta hai aur inflation 5.4% tak ja sakti hai.
