Abhi haal hi mein, TRAI ne naye spectrum bands auction ke liye propose kiye hain. Unhone 11,790 MHz spectrum nikaalne ki baat kahi hai, jismein 600 MHz wala important band bhi hai jo indoor coverage ke liye mast hai. Iska total price lagbhag ₹2.1 lakh crore lagaya ja raha hai, jo pichli baar 2022 ke auction se 19% kam hai.

Par COAI wale keh rahe hain ki yeh number abhi bhi bahut zyada hai. Unke Director General, S.P. Kochhar, ne bataya ki spectrum kharidna telecom operators ka sabse bada capex hota hai. Jab tak 5G services se koi accha paisa wapas nahi aa raha, tab tak naya spectrum khareedna business ke liye risky ho jayega. Unki mann ki baat yeh hai ki kai countries mein toh spectrum bahut saste mein milta hai, ya fir companies kuch conditions poori karein toh free bhi mil jata hai. Toh India ko bhi apna model refine karna chahiye.

Sachai yeh hai ki Govt satellite services ke liye spectrum alag tarike se allocate karti hai, par mobile operators ko auction hi dena padta hai. COAI chahta hai ki jab tak companies apne 5G investments se sustainable returns nahi kama pati, tab tak Govt ya toh support kare ya spectrum prices ko control mein rakhe. Aakhir mein, company kitna spectrum khareedegi yeh sab prices par hi depend karega.
