Maharashtra govt ne AirTrunk ko Letter of Intent (LoI) de diya hai Raigad Pen Growth Centre mein 3-gigawatt ka data center project banane ke liye. Yeh ₹2 lakh crore ka mega project India ke digital infrastructure ko next level par le jayega, aur isse 'Third Mumbai' naam diya gaya hai. Goal ye hai ki ye area global cloud aur AI traffic ka main hub bane.
Itna paisa kyun lag raha hai?
Market experts keh rahe hain ki itne bade data centers mein ₹2 lakh crore sirf ek estimate hai. Ismein long-term infrastructure aur power ka kharcha bhi shamil hai. 3-gigawatt power ka matlab hai jaise kai bade nuclear power plants ho! Mumbai ke paas itni power dena ek bada challenge hoga, private companies aur state electricity board ko milkar kaam karna padega.

AirTrunk, jo ab Blackstone aur CPP Investments ke group ka hissa hai, Blackstone ke global data center strategy ka aham part hai. Is company ko lagbhag A$24 billion mein kharida gaya tha. Ab ye log India jaise high-growth markets par focus kar rahe hain kyunki generative AI aur cloud services ki demand bahut badh rahi hai.
Risk Kya Hai?
Sabse bada challenge hai power connection aur grid stability. Jaise jaise GPU clusters ke liye power ki demand badhegi, reliable 24/7 power milna mushkil ho sakta hai. Maharashtra mein already ₹16 lakh crore ke alag alag projects chal rahe hain. Agar power infrastructure dhyaan nahi diya gaya toh projects late ho sakte hain ya phir expensive backup power use karni padegi, jo ki sustainability goals ke khilaaf hai.

Ab sabki nazar is baat par hai ki LoI ke baad site development kaise hoti hai. State govt ne approvals ko easy kar diya hai, lekin asli success toh reliable power supply aur global standards ko follow karne par hi depend karegi. Yeh project ek test case banega ki India mein AI-focused data centers kitne successful ho sakte hain.
