India ki pehli Hydrogen Train ko mili manzoori! Lekin kya yeh economic paani mein tair paayegi?
Overview

Indian Railways ne apni pehli 10-coach hydrogen train approve kar di hai, jo Jind-Sonipat route par **75 km/h** ki speed se chalegi. Yeh **2,400 kW** ka system clean transport mein ek bada step hai, par kya long run mein yeh electrification se zyada costly toh nahi padega?

Tech mein bada leap!

Finally, India ki hydrogen train ko official approval mil gaya hai! Yeh clean transport ki taraf ek important move hai. Traditional electrification jismein upar wires lagti hain, uske alawa yeh 10-coach train Distributed Power Rolling Stock (DPRS) technology use karti hai. Iska 2,400 kW power output ise duniya ke sabse powerful hydrogen train prototypes mein se ek banata hai. Train ne Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) se technical aur oscillation trials clear kar liye hain, ab yeh Jind-Sonipat route par chalne ke liye ready hai.

Infrastructure aur Operational Challenges?

Railway Board ki approval toh mil gayi, par yeh project kaafi complex hai. Is system ke liye special hydrogen setup chahiye, jismein on-site electrolyzers aur high-pressure refueling stations shamil hain. Abhi Jind mein ek 1-megawatt electrolyzer train ko support kar raha hai. Safety rules ke karan, Shakurbasti shed mein maintenance ke liye diesel locomotives use karne padenge. Train abhi sirf Jind-Sonipat stretch tak hi limited hai, kyunki Indian Railways ke network mein bade scale par hydrogen infrastructure nahi hai.

Paisa kya kehta hai?

Train India ki engineering skills toh dikhati hai, par iski economic viability par sawaal uth rahe hain. Estimate hai ki har trainset ka cost ₹80 crore hai, aur ground facilities ke liye har route par extra ₹70 crore lagenge. Critics ka kehna hai ki jab 93% broad-gauge network already electrified hai, toh hydrogen train ka fayda kya hai? Green hydrogen ka current high cost ise diesel se uncompetitive banata hai. High-pressure cryogenic storage ki zaroorat se train ka weight bhi badh jata hai, jisse passenger space kam ho sakta hai. Yeh initiative shayad ek pilot project hi rahega jab tak green hydrogen production cost kam nahi ho jati, jo shayad 2030 tak ho sakta hai.

Aage kya?

'Hydrogen for Heritage' initiative ke under, non-electrified mountain aur tourist routes par aise 35 trainsets deploy karne ka plan hai. Jind-Sonipat pilot ek crucial test hai, par success public-private partnerships par depend karta hai modular refueling systems build karne ke liye. Dekhna hoga ki kya yeh technology ek local experiment se ek practical, cost-effective option ban paati hai un routes ke liye jahan electrification possible nahi hai.
