SGB Redemption: Paisa toh aaya, par tax ka game change!
Yaar, yeh SGB 2020-21 Series VII wale investors toh lottery jeet gaye hain! Reserve Bank of India (RBI) ne in bonds ko redeem karne ki price set ki hai ₹15,254 per unit. Jab aap socho ki aapne yeh bonds ₹5,051 (ya online ₹5,001) mein khareede the, toh yeh lagbhag 200% se bhi zyada ka capital gain hai. Aur upar se 2.5% ka annual interest bhi mila hai jo semi-annually mila hai.
Is rally ka reason yeh hai ki gold price bahut bhaag gaya hai. Aajkal 24-carat gold ₹15,500 per gram ke aas paas chal raha hai, jo SGB redemption price ko aur justify karta hai.
Gold Investment Ka Naya Scene
SGBs pehle kaafi cool the kyuki gold price ke saath interest milta tha aur tax mein bhi benefit tha. Ye physical gold ka ek safe digital alternative tha. Lekin abhi sab kuch badal raha hai. RBI ne February 2025 mein kaha hai ki woh ab naye SGB issue nahi karenge.
Tax Ka Naya Twist!
Sabse bada concern yeh hai ki Budget 2026 ke baad se tax rules change ho gaye hain. Agar aap apna SGB premature redemption karwa rahe hain (matlab maturity se pehle, jaise yeh 2020-21 Series VII wale karwa rahe hain), toh is profit par aapko capital gains tax dena padega. Yeh rule April 1, 2026 ke baad se lagu hai. Iska matlab aapke net returns thode kam ho sakte hain.
Ab jab naye SGBs aa nahi rahe, toh investors ko Gold ETFs ya physical gold ki taraf dekhna padega, jahan tax rules alag hain. Government lagta hai chahti hai ki paisa gold mein invest hone ki bajaye dusri financial assets mein jaye.
