TDS Wapas Kaise Milega? Loss Offset Ka Funda!

Dekho, agar aapne kuch assets bech kar short-term capital gains (STCG) kamaye hain aur us par TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) cut gaya hai, toh aap us excess TDS ko reclaim kar sakte ho. Kaise? Apne jin investments mein loss hua hai unko bech do (yani realized losses). Yeh realized losses aapke STCG se set off ho jayenge, jisse aapka taxable income kam hoga aur aapko extra kata hua TDS refund mil jayega. Yaad rakho, sirf beche hue assets par hone wala loss (realized loss) hi kaam aayega, jo investments abhi bhi aapke paas hain aur unki value gir gayi hai (paper loss), woh tax saving mein help nahi karenge.

Tax Ke Rules Aur Apne Records Check Karna Zaroori Hai!

Agar aapke listed stocks ya equity mutual funds 12 mahine se kam time ke liye hold kiye hain, toh STCG par usually 20% tax lagta hai, agar STT pay kiya ho. Baaki assets ke liye, STCG aapke income slab rates par tax hota hai. Apne Annual Information Statement (AIS) aur Form 26AS ko check karna bahut important hai. Yeh documents aapke saare financial transactions dikhate hain aur income tax return (ITR) file karne se pehle inko cross-verify karna chahiye taaki aapko accurate refund mil sake. Brokers generally residents ke liye capital gains par tax nahi kaat te, lekin agar kabhi TDS deduct hua hai toh broker se confirm karein aur AIS mein verify karein.

Smart Tax-Loss Harvesting Strategy!

Tax-loss harvesting ka matlab hai intentionally kuch investments ko loss par bechna. Yeh karne se aap apne realized capital gains ko offset kar sakte ho, jisse aapki total tax bill kaafi kam ho jati hai. Jo short-term capital losses hote hain, woh short-term aur long-term dono capital gains ko offset kar sakte hain. Lekin, long-term losses sirf long-term gains ko hi offset kar sakte hain. Agar aapke losses aapke gains se zyada hain, toh aap un losses ko aage 8 saal tak carry forward kar sakte ho, bas ITR time par file karna hoga. Yeh strategy sabse best kaam karti hai jab aapko lagta hai ki future mein gains ho sakte hain ya current taxes kam karne hain. Financial year ends hone se pehle, yaani March 31st se pehle, assets ko realize karke losses book karna hota hai.

Kya Risks Hain Aur Kya Samajhna Hai?

Kai baar investors excess TDS reclaim nahi kar paate ya loss offset ka benefit nahi le paate. Sabse common mistake hai unrealized losses (paper losses) ko realized losses samajh lena, jinka koi immediate tax benefit nahi milta. Brokers dwara galat TDS deduction bhi ho sakta hai, jiske liye AIS ko dhyan se check karna hota hai. Non-residents ke liye Section 195 ke under TDS aur complex ho jata hai. Aur sabse important, agar aapne ITR file karne ki deadline miss kar di, toh losses ko carry forward karne ka chance chhoot sakta hai. Isliye, saare transactions ko carefully track karna aur ITR mein sab kuch accurately report karna bahut zaroori hai.
