Purane tareeke se voting hogi!

Punjab aur Haryana High Court ne saaf kar diya hai ki 26 May ko hone wale local body elections mein Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) compulsory nahi honge.

Chief Justice Sheel Nagu aur Justice Sanjiv Berry ki bench ne kaha ki Punjab Municipal Election Rules ke according ballot papers aur traditional ballot boxes use kiye ja sakte hain, bhale hi EVMs available ho.

Court ka kehna hai ki yeh rules un voters ki help ke liye hain jinhe padhne likhne mein dikkat hoti hai ya jo economically challenged hain, isliye zarurat padne par paper ballots ka option rakha gaya hai.

Late petitions ki wajah se faisla

Court ne yeh bhi bataya ki EVMs mandate karne ki maang puri na hone ka ek bada reason petitions ka late aana hai. Election schedule 13 May ko announce hua tha, lekin ballot papers par sawal uthane wali petitions 18 aur 19 May ko file ki gayi.

Supreme Court ke rulings EVMs ko favor karti hain, lekin late hone ki wajah se court ne is baare mein koi intervention nahi kiya.

Petitioners ka kehna tha ki State Election Commission ka ballot paper choose karna Supreme Court ke pehle ke rulings ke khilaaf hai. Court ne unki yeh maang to deny kar di, lekin unhe election process ko challenge karne ke liye Election Petition file karne ki permission de di.

Punjab government aur State Election Commission ne bhi petitions ki admissibility par objections uthaye hain.

Vote counting 29 May ko hogi.

Sabke liye voting ka tarika

Yeh decision dikhata hai ki kaise technology ko adopt karne aur sabhi voters ke liye access ko ensure karne ke beech balance banaya ja raha hai, khaas kar alag alag regions mein.

Court ne yeh bhi mana ki kuch voters ko mushkil ho sakti hai, jo flexible voting systems ki need ko highlight karta hai.

Lekin, petitions late aane se election regulations ko follow karne par sawaal uth rahe hain.

Yeh decision future mein local elections mein voting methods ko challenge karne ke tareeke ko shape kar sakta hai, kyunki yeh election timelines aur procedures follow karne ki importance batata hai.

Supreme Court ki EVMs ke preference ke bawajood ballot papers allow karna, efficiency aur inclusivity dono ko consider karne wale electoral reform par ek balanced approach dikhata hai.
