May 2026 mein, Indian investors ne large-cap mutual funds par zyada focus kiya, returns kam hone ke baad bhi. Micro-cap schemes mein inflows kam hue. Data batata hai ki SIPs hi allocation drive kar rahe hain, jisse investment short-term market performance se alag ho gaya hai.

Kya hua?

May mahine mein, Indian mutual fund investors ne apna zyada tar paisa large-cap funds mein dala, jabki in funds ne smaller categories ke comparison mein kaafi underperform kiya. Data dikhata hai ki market returns aur investor flows mein ek clear disconnect hai. Micro-cap funds ne sabse zyada average returns 5.7% diye aur small-cap funds 3.4% badhe, lekin unhein sabse zyada fresh money nahi mili. Iske opposite, large-cap funds ne sirf 1.5% return diya, par ₹8,565 crore ke net inflows attract kiye. Flexi-cap funds ne bhi ₹5,350 crore capture kiye 2.1% return ke saath.

SIP ka magic

Is trend ka sabse bada reason hai automated Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) ka badhta hua influence. Ye monthly automated contributions aksar short-term market volatility ya individual fund performance ki parwah kiye bina chalti rehti hain. Kyunki Indian retail money ka ek bada hissa in pre-set SIPs mein locked hai, toh capital flows bade aur established fund categories ke liye consistent rehte hain. Ye behavior dikhata hai ki bahut se investors highest immediate returns chase karne ke bajaye regular, long-term investing ki discipline ko zyada priority de rahe hain.

Stability vs Growth ka tradeoff

Investors ke liye, large-cap funds mein hold karne ya exposure badhane ka decision ya phir smaller categories mein jaane ka decision, risk appetite par depend karta hai. Large-cap companies aam taur par desh ki sabse established businesses hoti hain, jo market downturns ke dauran zyada stability deti hain, bhale hi unka growth potential smaller firms se kam ho. Micro-cap aur small-cap segments historically zyada volatile hote hain, jo market rallies ke dauran higher returns ka potential offer karte hain, lekin unmein sharp declines ka risk bhi zyada hota hai. Current trend dikhata hai ki smaller segments mein attractive gains hone ke bawajood, market ka ek bada segment largest, most liquid companies ki stability par anchor kiya hua hai.

Industry ki health kaisi hai?

Specific allocation trends ke bawajood, overall mutual fund industry sustained growth ke daur mein hai. May ke end tak Assets Under Management ₹81.58 lakh crore tak pahunch gaye. Industry ne 63rd consecutive month of net inflows bhi mark kiya, jo consistent retail participation ka sign hai. SIP contributions ₹30,954 crore tak pahunch gaye, jo pichhle saal ke comparison mein 16% increase hai, aur active SIP accounts ab 9.64 crore hain. Ye indicate karta hai ki allocation strategy conservative lag sakti hai, lekin Indians mein regular investing ki aadat strong bani hui hai.

Sector-wise allocation aur trends

Investors ne banking aur financial services ko bhi preference di, jismein BFSI-themed funds ne 5.5% return diya aur ₹1,013 crore inflows attract kiye. Interesting baat ye hai ki factor-based investing mein bhi interest dikha, jismein growth-oriented aur contra funds ne capital attract karna jari rakha. Iske opposite, defensive strategies—jaise ki quality aur low-volatility funds—mein outflows dekhe gaye, jo suggest karta hai ki investors currently market risk lene ko taiyar hain, ongoing global uncertainties aur foreign institutional selling ke bawajood.

Investors ko kya track karna chahiye?

Investors ye monitor kar sakte hain ki kya ye performance aur inflows ke beech ka gap lambe samay tak bana rehta hai. Jabki large-cap stability kai portfolios ka core part hai, ye data investors ke liye periodic review ka reminder hai. Agar kisi investor ka portfolio sirf automated SIPs se chalta hai, toh unhein check karna chahiye ki kya unka asset mix—specifically large, mid, aur small-cap exposure ke beech balance—ab bhi unke personal risk appetite aur financial goals se align karta hai, na ki sirf unke investment plans ke default settings se.
