Trade Talks Ki Nayee Kahani

Washington mein April 20, 2026 se India aur America ke beech trade discussions phir se shuru ho gayi hain. Goal hai proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) mein changes karna. Minister Piyush Goyal ka kehna hai ki deal ka pehla hissa toh almost done tha, par ab dono countries ko badalti tariffs aur global situations ke hisaab se framework adjust karna padega. India se Darpan Jain lead kar rahe 12 logo ki team US officials se teen din baat karegi. Ye meetings February mein postpone ho gayi thi, isliye ab yeh ek important step hai.

Tariffs Ka Chakravyuh Aur Jaanch

February mein jo deal ka framework bana tha, uske hisaab se US Indian goods par tariffs 50% se kam karke 18% karne wala tha aur Russia se oil kharidne par jo 25% penalty tariff thi, woh bhi hatne wali thi. Par ab sab gadbad ho gaya hai. US Supreme Court ki ek ruling ne 'reciprocal tariffs' ko cancel kar diya. Uske baad, Trump administration ne February 24, 2026 se 150 dinon ke liye sabhi countries par 10% flat tariff laga di. Isse India ka advantage khatam ho gaya. Aur tension toh tab aur badh gayi jab US Trade Representative ne March mein do Section 301 investigations shuru kar di. Ye probes 'excess manufacturing capacity' aur forced labor se bane goods ko global trade mein rokne mein failure par hain, jisme India investigate ho raha hai. India in baaton ko deny kar raha hai.

China Ka Dab-Daba Aur India Ki Position

Sabse bada game changer yeh hai ki 2025-26 mein China, India ka sabse bada trading partner ban gaya hai, US ko peeche chhod kar. China se trade $151.1 billion tak pahunch gaya hai, aur India ka trade deficit China ke saath record $112.16 billion ho gaya hai. Wahi, India ka US ke saath trade surplus $34.4 billion ho gaya hai, jo pichhle saal $40.89 billion tha. Matlab, India ka US ke saamne bargaining power kam ho gayi hai. Aur competitors ki baat karein toh Vietnam par ~20%, Bangladesh par ~19% aur China par ~10% tariffs hain. India ka advantage ab sirf 2-3 percentage points ka reh gaya hai, jo ki apparel aur electronics jaise sectors mein cost difference ko cover karne ke liye kaafi nahi hai.

Deal Ki Commitment Aur Future

India ne US se $500 billion ka samaan paanch saal mein kharidne ki commitment di thi, jisme energy, aircrafts aur technology shamil hai. Par ab economists ko is target ko poora karne par doubt hai, unka kehna hai ki yeh India ke trade balance ko disturb kar sakta hai. US ki policies mein consistent na hona aur transactional approach businesses ke liye uncertainty paida kar raha hai. Section 301 investigations aur tariffs ke wapas aane ka risk, India ki position ko aur mushkil bana raha hai. China ke saath badhte trade deficit ko manage karte hue US se favorable market access milna ab tough ho raha hai.

Aage Kya?

Talks abhi chalengi, par future uncertain hai. April 20, 2026 ko markets mein mix response dekha gaya. Nifty 50 thoda upar band hua, par US markets mein bhi volatility thi. Is deal ki success India par depend karti hai ki woh US ki tariff volatility ko kaise handle karta hai, Section 301 probes ka jawab kaise deta hai, aur China ke saath apne trade ko manage karte hue apne exporters ke liye fayda kaise lata hai.
