UK Ke Naye Steel Rules Ne Trade Deal Ko Rok Diya!

July 2025 mein sign hui India-UK CETA ab operational hone wali thi, par UK ke steel safeguard measures ne sab paani peene daal diya. July 1, 2026 se UK ne tariff-free steel imports ko 60% tak kam kar diya hai aur baaki pe 50% ka tariff laga diya hai. Ye ek bada setback hai, especially India ke steel sector ke liye.

India ke Commerce Secretary, Rajesh Agrawal ne bola hai ki is situation ke liye ek "unique and creative solution" dhoondna padega. Yeh UK ke protectionist policies hain, jo original negotiations mein discuss nahi hui thi.

Steel Quotas Ki Band Baja Di UK Ne!

UK apni domestic steel industry ko bachane ke liye yeh kadam utha raha hai. July 1, 2026 se, steel ke liye tariff-free quotas current levels se 60% kam ho jayenge. Iske upar jaane par 50% ka heavy tariff lagega, jo pehle sirf 25% tha. Ye Hot-Rolled Coil (HRC) quota ko toh 90% tak ghatata hai! India ne pichhle fiscal year (2025-26) mein UK ko $893.4 million ka iron aur steel export kiya tha.

Global Market Aur India Ka Growing Sector

UK ka yeh move global steel market ki slowdown (0.3% growth expected) aur EU+UK ki demand (1.3% rise) ke beech aaya hai. Wahi India ka steel market toh 7.4% growth dikha raha hai 2026 mein, government policies ki wajah se.

India pehle bhi trade protectionism ka jawab de chuka hai, jaise WTO rules use karke. Yeh situation dikhati hai kaise countries apni industries ko protect karti hain, chahe bade trade deals ho rahe hon.

Steel Exporters Ki Valuation Par Risk

CETA mein 99% Indian exports par duty hatne wali thi, par yeh steel dispute ek bada risk hai. JSW Steel, Tata Steel aur Jindal Steel & Power jaise companies ke valuations kaafi high hain (JSW Steel ka P/E 39.57 hai, industry average 28.51 se upar). Agar trade dispute chalta raha toh yeh valuations gir sakte hain. UK ka yeh move dusri countries ko bhi aise protectionist policies lene ko encourage kar sakta hai.

Aage Kya Hoga?

Abhi negotiations chal rahi hain. Reports keh rahi hain ki March 14, 2026 se pehle contract hue goods ke liye Q3 2026 mein imports ko lekar kuch transitional arrangements ho sakti hain. Dekhna hoga ki CETA kitni jaldi final hota hai aur kya yeh trade deal, national protectionist policies ke saamne tik paati hai ya nahi.
