Motor Insurance Reform: IRDAI ke paas pahunchi demand, badal sakta hai premiums ka game!

General insurance companies IRDAI se risk-based pricing aur 'knock-for-knock' system ko khatam karne ki maang kar rahi hain. Isse insurance sector ke purane models aur profits mein bada badlav aa sakta hai.

General insurance companies ne IRDAI ko ek proposal bheja hai jisme motor insurance sector ko puri tarah se overhaul karne ki baat kahi gayi hai. Abhi premiums government ke framework par chalte hain, lekin companies chahti hain ki premiums customer ke individual risk aur driving history par base hon.

Dealer Influence par lagam

Abhi problem ye hai ki car dealers insurance bechte hain aur repair network bhi wahi control karte hain. Dealers overriders aur inflate kiye gaye repair bills se apna extra profit nikal lete hain. Insurers ka kehna hai ki isse unke distribution costs ka limit cross ho jata hai aur claim settlement mein bhi gadbad hoti hai.

'Knock-for-Knock' ka khel khatam?

Abhi accident hone par har insurer apne customer ka kharcha khud uthata hai, chahe galti kisi ki bhi ho. Companies ab ise band kar ke 'fault-based' recovery system lana chahti hain. Isse accountability toh badhegi, lekin claim process thoda complex aur expensive ho sakta hai.

Driver-Specific Policies

Industry ne ek aur naya suggestion diya hai: 'Named-driver policies'. Iska matlab liability gadi ki bajaye driver par hogi. Isse risk assessment sahi hoga aur unauthorized driving par bhi check lagega.

Investors ke liye kya hai?

Agar ye reforms laagu hote hain, toh ICICI Lombard aur The New India Assurance jaise listed players ke underwriting margins par bada asar padega. Risk-based pricing se margins improve ho sakte hain, par competition bhi badh sakti hai. Investors ko ab IRDAI ke agle step aur draft circular ka intezar hai.
