India ke Defence aur Space-tech startups ab bade shehron se door, chote shehron (Tier-II/III) mein apna manufacturing aur testing setup laga rahe hain. Wahan sasti zameen, khula aasman aur government ka support mil raha hai. Hardware companies ka operating cost kam hoga, par supply chain aur talent ki problem aa sakti hai.

Kya ho raha hai?

Dekho, India mein jo Defence aur Space-tech startups hain na, unki strategy mein bada change aa raha hai. Pehle jo companies Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai jaise bade shehron mein thi, woh ab Tier-II aur Tier-III cities mein apna manufacturing, testing aur training ka kaam shuru kar rahi hain. Ye shift software se hatkar hardware par zyada focus karne wali companies ke liye bahut important hai, kyunki unko ab zyada space aur testing ke liye jagah chahiye.

Ek mast example hai BonV Aero ka, jinhone Odisha ke Khordha mein ₹300 crore ka drone park banaya hai. Ye 30 acres se bhi zyada mein faila hua hai aur yahan assembly lines, research centers, aur testing zones sab hain. Aisi hi aur bhi companies UP aur Maharashtra mein testing grounds bana rahi hain taaki woh sensitive propulsion tests aur bade drone operations kar saken, jo bade shehron mein mushkil hai.

Investors ke liye ye kyun matter karta hai?

Jo log is sector mein invest karte hain, unke liye ye decentralization ek acha sign hai ki business model mature ho raha hai. Shuru mein toh drone aur space-tech startups bas software ya chote lab mein kaam kar rahe the. Lekin ab jab woh grow kar rahe hain, unko 'field-ready' manufacturing ki zaroorat pad rahi hai. Chote shehron mein setup lagana sirf paisa bachana nahi, balki kaam karne ke liye zaroori bhi hai.

Hardware banana kaafi paisa maangta hai. Chote shehron mein jaane se land aur labor ka kharcha kam ho jata hai, jisse woh R&D aur infrastructure mein zyada invest kar sakte hain. Aur toh aur, dedicated 'testing corridors' milne se woh Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations kar paate hain, jo autonomous systems test karne ke liye zaroori hai, aur yeh sab bade shehron ke airspace mein safe nahi hai.

Strategic Trade-Offs Kya Hain?

Chote shehron mein jaane ke fayde toh hain, par investors ko kuch naye risks par bhi nazar rakhni hogi:

  • Infrastructure aur Connectivity: Bade shehron jitna acha internet, bijli, aur transport logistics shayad na mile. Hardware manufacturing mein 'just-in-time' supply chain bahut important hoti hai. Agar high-tech parts aasani se nahi mile toh production delay ho sakta hai.
  • Talent Sourcing: Defence aur space-tech ke liye bahut specialized engineers chahiye hote hain. Bhale hi yeh companies local training dein, phir bhi senior experts ko metros se shift karna padta hai. Chote shehron mein unko retain karna ek challenge ho sakta hai.
  • Funding aur Ecosystem: India mein venture capital aur angel investment zyada tar bade shehron mein hi concentrated hai. Government schemes jaise iDEX support to karti hain, par bade hubs ke bahar waali startups ko private investors se connect karne mein zyada dikkat aa sakti hai.

Business Context Kya Hai?

Ye shift 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' jaisi national policies aur state-level aerospace policies se bahut support ho raha hai. State governments bhi land, infrastructure aur easy regulations dekar startups ko attract kar rahe hain. Investors ke liye ye ek 'policy tailwind' hai jo initial risks ko kam karta hai.

Lekin, companies ki asli success unke location par hi nahi nirbhar karti. Main cheezein yeh hain: kya woh complex manufacturing bade scale par kar paate hain, kya unko government ya private contracts milte hain, aur kya woh heavy infrastructure mein invest karte hue apna balance sheet maintain kar paate hain. Tier-II cities mein jana growth ka sign hai, par iske liye accha operational management bhi chahiye.

Investors Ko Kya Track Karna Chahiye?

Investors ko project execution timelines par updates dekhne chahiye ki kya yeh naye facilities planned production capacity tak pahunch paati hain ya nahi. Dusra important area hai local supply chain ka development. Kya startup local MSMEs se parts le rahe hain, ya abhi bhi bahar ke suppliers par depend karte hain? Aur akhir mein, testing corridors ke liye regulatory clearances dekhni chahiye, kyunki yeh new technology validate karne aur products ko 'prototype' se 'revenue-generating' phase mein le jaane ke liye crucial hain.
