Sagar Cements ne climate-tech company Sow & Reap Chara Pvt Ltd ke saath 10-year ke offtake agreement ke through ek important sustainability collaboration start kiya hai. 'CHARA' project mein Sagar Cements ke Mattampally plant mein integrated biochar aur gasification units install kiye jayenge. Yeh strategic initiative cement manufacturing ke energy-intensive calcination stage se hone wale emissions ko address karega, jo company ke 2030 tak net-zero emissions achieve karne ke broader commitment ko support karta hai. Agreement January 21-22, 2026 ke aas-paas announce hua tha.
'CHARA' project mein local area (plant ke 20-km radius) se sourced agricultural residues, mainly cotton crop waste, use kiye jayenge. Is biomass ko process karke syngas banaya jayega, jise Sagar Cements apne manufacturing process mein fossil inputs ko substitute karne ke liye alternative fuel ke roop mein use karega. Saath hi, biochar generate hoga aur farmers ko soil application ke liye supply kiya jayega, jo long-term carbon storage promote karega aur open-field residue burning se hone wale air pollution ko kam karega.
Every gasification unit ko ₹14 crore ka investment chahiye aur yeh annually approx. 15,000 tonnes biomass process karne ke liye engineered hai, jisse about 3,750 tonnes biochar milega aur around 8,000 tonnes CO2 mitigate hoga. Initial deployment se annually approx. 6,000 tonnes carbon emissions reduce hone ki ummeed hai per unit. Mattampally location mein four units ki planned installation ke saath, annual emission reductions estimated 25,000 tonnes tak pahunch sakti hain. First gasification plant February 2026 mein commission hone ki ummeed hai, aur Phase 1 mein initial four units March 2026 tak go live ho jayenge. Company plans to scale up to a total of 20 units in phases.
All 20 installations operational hone par, Sagar Cements targets approx. 160,000 carbon credits ka annual issuance. Next five years mein, company ka aim close to one million carbon credits generate karna hai, jo emissions ko offset karne aur voluntary carbon markets mein engage karne ka potential avenue present karta hai.
As of January 22, 2026, Sagar Cements Limited ke shares around ₹187.59 to ₹202.56 trade kar rahe the. Company ka market capitalization approx. ₹2,457 crore to ₹2,566 crore hai. Company ka Price-to-Earnings (P/E) ratio negative report kiya gaya hai, jaise ki January 2026 tak -16.16x ya -18.47x, jo trailing twelve-month basis par losses indicate karta hai.
Recent financial results for Q3 FY25 (ending December 2024) mein challenges dikhai di, revenue mein 15.5% YoY decrease hokar ₹568.69 crore raha aur operating EBITDA mein bhi kami aayi. Sagar Cements ka operational EBITDA Q3 FY25 mein ₹3,764 lakhs tha, jo Q3 FY24 ke ₹8,706 lakhs se kam hai. Company ne negative Return on Equity (ROE) of -5.15% bhi report kiya. Q3 FY26 results ke liye ek earnings call January 22, 2026 ko scheduled hai.
