Energy Security Ka Push, IWT Pause Ke Baad!

Dekho bhai, J&K government ne decide kiya hai ki woh apna 120 saal purana Mohra Power Project revive karegi. Ye unke bade energy security plan ka ek important part hai. Iska timing bhi bada strategic hai kyunki India ne April 2025 mein Indus Water Treaty (IWT) ko pause kar diya hai, Pahalgam terror attack ke baad. IWT, jo India aur Pakistan ke beech paani share karne ka treaty hai, usko abeyance mein rakhne se region mein paani resources ko lekar naya approach aa raha hai. Mohra ko revive karna, aur saath mein dusre hydro projects ko accelerate karna, ye dikhata hai ki J&K apni power generation capacity badhana chahti hai aur bahari power sources par dependency kam karna chahti hai. Ye step bahut zaroori hai kyunki Union Territory ka aim hai apni installed power generation capacity ko triple karna - abhi jo 3,540 MW hai, use 2035 tak lagbhag 11,000 MW tak pahunchana hai.

Mohra Project: Kahani Aur Tech Details!

Ye Mohra Power Project Jhelum River par Uri sector mein hai aur 1905 mein chalu hua tha. Ye India ke pioneer hydroelectric facilities mein se ek hai. Start mein ye 5 MW ka run-of-the-river project tha, par 1992 mein flood damage ke baad iski capacity kam ho kar 3 MW ho gayi thi, jiski wajah se ye band ho gaya. Iski ek unique baat hai iski 10 km se zyada lambi lakdi ki water channel, jo us time ki engineering ka kamaal dikhati hai. Haalanki, propose kiya gaya 10.5 MW capacity region ki power demand poori karne ke liye kaafi nahi hai, par iska revival historical aur symbolic value rakhta hai, Kashmir ki engineering heritage ko bachane mein. Iske renovation aur modernization ke liye ek transaction adviser appoint kiya jayega.

J&K Ke Bade Energy Goals!

J&K mein hydropower ka potential lagbhag 18,000 MW estimate kiya gaya hai, jismein se lagbhag 15,000 MW identify ho chuka hai. Abhi jo 3,540 MW capacity use ho rahi hai, woh identified potential ka sirf 24% hai. Government ka roadmap kai projects develop karke is gap ko fill karna hai. Pakal Dul (1,000 MW), Kiru (624 MW), aur Rattle (850 MW) jaise projects advanced stages mein hain. 2035 tak 11,000 MW ka target J&K ko ek energy hub banane ki strategy hai, jisse energy security badhe aur shayad ye power exporter bhi ban jaye.

Challenges Bhi Kam Nahi Hai!

Is ambitious energy drive mein kai challenges hain. IWT ka abeyance, jo India ko river resources par zyada control de sakta hai, woh geopolitical uncertainty aur regional stability ke liye sawaal uthata hai. Aur, region ka infrastructure security threats ke liye vulnerable hai, khaaskar recent attacks ke baad. Climate change bhi ek risk hai; studies Jhelum River basin mein changed rainfall aur faster glacial melt ki baat karti hain, jisse flood risk badh sakta hai. Ye region high seismic zone mein bhi hai, jo bade infrastructure projects ke liye structural risks paida karta hai. Global level par, hydropower projects mein aksar delays, cost overruns aur environmental concerns aate hain. Mohra project ka revival, chhota hone ke baad bhi, bade projects ke muqable energy deficit mein bahut kam contribution dega.
