Overview

India ke power distribution utilities (discoms) ne fiscal year 2025 mein Rs 2,701 crore ka collective profit kamaya hai, kai saalon ki losses ke baad. Yeh turnaround Power Ministry ki aggressive reforms ka natija hai, jisne AT&C losses ko kam kiya aur ACS-ARR gap ko bhi tight kiya. Is improvement se energy sector mein stability aayi hai jo India ki economic growth ke liye important hai.

Sector Turnaround: Discoms Profitable Bane

India bhar ki power distribution utilities ne fiscal year 2025 mein collective Rs 2,701 crore ka profit record kiya hai. Yeh sector ke liye ek bada turnaround hai, jo kai saalon se State Electricity Boards ke unbundling aur corporatization ke baad significant losses se lad raha tha.

Reforms Se Financial Recovery

Power Ministry ne bataya ki profitability mein yeh wapsi strategic reforms ki ek series ka seedha natija hai. In initiatives ka uddeshya distribution sector mein systemic concerns ko address karna aur financial viability ko badhana tha. Power Minister Manohar Lal ne ise utilities ke liye ek "naya chapter" bataya.

Key Performance Indicators Mein Sudhar

Profit figure ke alawa, anya performance indicators bhi sector mein transformation dikha rahe hain. AT&C losses FY14 mein 22.62% se kam hokar FY25 mein 15.04% ho gayi hain. ACS-ARR gap bhi ₹0.78 per kWh (FY14) se kam hokar sirf ₹0.06/kWh (FY25) ho gaya hai, jo cost recovery mein behtari dikhata hai.

Policy Initiatives Ne Financial Discipline Mazboot Ki

Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge) Rules jaise reforms ne generating companies ko outstanding dues ko kam karne mein madad ki hai. Yeh dues ₹1,39,947 crore (2022) se kam hokar January 2026 tak projected ₹4,927 crore ho jayenge. Distribution utility payment cycles bhi FY21 mein 178 days se kam hokar FY25 mein 113 days ho gaye hain.

Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) ne infrastructure modernize karne aur smart metering ko promote karne mein aham role nibhaya hai. States aur Union Territories ke saath extensive engagements ne reforms ko aur mazboot kiya hai, jo India ke economic expansion ko support karne wale robust power sector ke liye government ki commitment ko dikhata hai.
