Record Demand, Ample Fuel: Koi Shortage Nahi!

Yaar, India ne Wednesday ko record break karte hue 265.44 GW peak electricity demand hit kiya. Yeh lagatar teesre din hua hai! Aise mein jab garmi se AC sab chal rahe hain, power ki kami nahi hui. Thermal power plants, jo apne energy ka main source hain, unke paas abhi 51.98 million tonnes coal ka stock hai. Daily 3.10 million tonnes use hone ke baad bhi yeh buffer kaafi hai. Ismein zyada tar domestic coal hai jo 203 GW capacity ko fuel kar raha hai, aur imported coal wale 18.78 GW capacity ke liye apna stock manage kar rahe hain.

Aage Kya? Coal Ki Demand Aur Badhegi

Future projections bata rahe hain ki coal consumption power generation ke liye aur badhega. FY27 mein thermal plants lagbhag 850 million tonnes coal use kar sakte hain, jo FY26 ke 808 million tonnes se zyada hai. Is demand ko pura karne ke liye, Ministry of Power ne Ministry of Coal se FY27 ke liye 906 million tonnes coal mangi hai. Yeh sab current fiscal year ke projections se align karta hai.

Renewables vs Coal: Grid Stability Ka Game

India ka power sector ek critical point par hai, jahan ek taraf demand badh rahi hai aur doosri taraf renewables bhi tezi se aa rahe hain. Renewables FY2025 mein almost 22-26% electricity generate kar rahe hain, lekin abhi bhi 70% se zyada power coal se hi ban raha hai. Renewables ke badhte share ke saath grid ko flexible banane aur stable power supply ke liye energy storage solutions bahut important ho rahe hain. Lekin transmission ki kami ek badi problem ban rahi hai, jiske wajah se renewable energy ko beech mein hi rokna pad raha hai. Agar transmission infrastructure upgrade nahi hua toh India ke 2030 renewable energy targets risk mein aa sakte hain.

Delhi Ka Bhi Yahi Haal

National trends ke saath, Delhi mein bhi record electricity demand hui, peak par 8,039 megawatts pahunch gaya. BSES aur Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (DDL) dono ne apni demand manage ki aur puri capital mein uninterrupted supply di. Tata Power-DDL ne summer ke liye special plans banaye hain jaise bilateral agreements aur reserve shutdown mechanisms.

Bade Players Kya Kar Rahe Hain?

NTPC Limited apna performance maintain kar raha hai, unke coal plant load factors national average se zyada hain. Woh FY27 tak 8 GW renewable capacity target kar rahe hain aur unke paas 33 GW construction mein hai. Tata Power bhi apni generation capacity badha raha hai aur coal resources secure kar raha hai. Unke Mundra plant ko bhi peak demand meet karne ke liye restart karne ko kaha gaya hai, jo dikhata hai ki abhi bhi baseload aur peak power ke liye coal important hai. Renewables par focus hone ke bawajood, imported coal plants mein imports kam hue hain, jo dikhata hai ki India domestic sources par zyada depend kar raha hai.
