Govt ka target hai **2030** tak **100 million tonnes** coal gasification. Steel majors confused hain—kuch invest kar rahe hain, kuch balance sheet bachane mein lage hain. Investors ke liye ye samajhna zaroori hai ki kiska strategy sahi hai.
Govt ne 2030 tak 100 million tonnes coal gasification capacity ka bada target rakha hai taaki import par nirbharta kam ho. Iske liye govt ne tagde incentives bhi diye hain, lekin steel companies is par divided hain. Kuch ko lagta hai yeh future hai, toh kuch ko lagta hai ki heavy setup cost se balance sheet bigad jayegi.
Steel Giants ki alag-alag strategies
Jindal Steel and Power ne toh apna path clear kar liya hai. Woh Angul facility mein gasification use kar rahe hain taaki coking coal ke import par kharcha kam ho. Yeh long-term efficiency ke liye accha move hai. Wahi dusri taraf, Tata Steel jaise players ne khud plant lagane se mana kar diya hai. Unka focus core operations par hai aur woh gas sirf as a customer buy karna chahte hain kyunki infrastructure setup ka kharcha bohot zyada hai.
Financial risk ya fayda?
Investors ke liye main sawaal hai: Debt management. Steel business waise bhi cyclical hota hai, aur gasification plant lagana balance sheet par load daal sakta hai. Proponents ka kehna hai ki inland plants ko 15% tak raw material cost mein bachat ho sakti hai, lekin agar processing cost hi zyada ho gayi, toh profit margin girna tay hai.
Environmental regulations ka pressure
European Union ke carbon taxes ki wajah se ab pressure badh gaya hai. Coal gasification ko cleaner production mana ja raha hai, par agar carbon capture technology add ki, toh cost aur badhegi. Ab dekhna ye hai ki kaunsi company debt aur efficiency ka balance sahi baitha pati hai.
