LPG Crisis: India Ki Energy Security Pe Sawal
West Asia mein badhti hui tensions aur Hormuz Strait mein issues ke karan, India ki LPG imports mein badi gadbad ho gayi hai. Pichle mahine March 2026 mein, Brent crude $100 per barrel cross kar gaya, jisse supply chain aur bhi kharab ho gayi. Ab govt ka pressure hai ki gharon ko PNG (Piped Natural Gas) pe shift kiya jaaye, especially jahan pehle se pipelines hain. Iske liye 90 din ka deadline bhi diya gaya hai. Ye India ki energy security ke liye ek zaroori move hai, kyuki hum bahut zyada imported LPG par depend karte hain. Currently, hamare paas sirf 20 din ka buffer stock hai, jabki global standard 40-60 din ka hota hai.
PNG Pipeline Ka Slow Game
Government ka PNG pe zor toh hai, par infrastructure banane mein badi dikkat aa rahi hai. PNG technically ek accha option hai - continuous supply milti hai aur long-term mein LPG se 10-20% sasta bhi pad sakta hai. Lekin, pipeline network badhana bahut costly aur time-consuming hai. Complex approvals aur huge investment lagti hai. FY 25 tak, pipeline network ka growth sirf 2.2% raha. Abhi tak sirf 1.6 crore families (around 12-13%) ke paas PNG connections hain, jabki target 2034 tak 12 crore families ka hai. Is problem ko solve karne ke liye, govt ₹5,000-6,000 crore ka naya plan laane ki soch rahi hai, jismein pipeline banane ke 50% cost cover ho sakti hai. Lekin phir bhi, infrastructure ki kami ek bada hurdle hai, aur urban aur rural areas ke beech ka fark badh sakta hai.
Future Mein Divided Energy Access?
Yeh forced switch kuch logon ke liye toh faydemand hoga, par jo log rural ya semi-urban areas mein rehte hain jahan PNG network nahi hai, unko abhi bhi LPG par hi depend karna padega. Ho sakta hai unko supply ki dikkat ho ya prices badhein. India electric cooking aur biogas jaise options bhi explore kar raha hai, aur toh aur, green hydrogen stove par bhi kaam chal raha hai. Log induction cooktops aur electric pressure cookers bhi buy kar rahe hain prices ke uncertainty ke karan. Funny baat ye hai ki Nifty Energy index pichle ek saal mein 13.56% tak badha hai, jo sector ka importance dikhata hai.
Underlying Issues Aur Risks
Energy security ke liye yeh step zaroori hai, par yeh India ki existing problems ko bhi highlight karta hai. LPG aur natural gas dono ke liye import par itna depend karna global price shocks aur geopolitical issues ko invite karta hai. PNG connections ke liye pehle kaafi paisa lagana padta hai, aur LPG subsidies milne ki wajah se low-income families ko yeh shift karna mushkil ho sakta hai. PNG supply chain stable lagti hai, par woh bhi imported LNG par hi depend karti hai. Analysts ka kehna hai ki India oil dependency ke karan vulnerable hai, jiska impact consumption, company profits, aur currency par bhi pad sakta hai. Infrastructure slow hone ki wajah se, bahut se log switch nahi kar pa rahe hain, jisse compliance issues aur LPG par pressure bana rahega.
Aage Kya Hai?
India ka energy sector ek critical point par hai. Government chahti hai ki PNG ka use badhe aur import par dependance kam ho. Iske liye rules easy kiye jaa rahe hain aur funding bhi mil sakti hai. Par, yeh sab depend karega infrastructure build karne ki speed par, consumers ke liye costs manage karne par, aur sabhi income groups ke liye fair access ensure karne par. Geopolitical pressure aur national policy ka combination ek complex energy shift ko speed up kar raha hai, jiske long-term effects India ki economy aur energy independence par padenge.
