Yaar, nuclear fuel ki duniya mein ek bada breakthrough hua hai. Clean Core Thorium Energy (CCTE) naam ki company ne apna patented ANEEL fuel use karke record burnup achieve kiya hai. Idaho National Laboratory mein hue testing mein, is fuel ne 60 GWd/MTU ki burnup rate cross kar li hai. Ye itna kamaal ka hai ki yeh traditional pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWRs) aur CANDU reactors ke normal burnup rates se 8 guna zyada hai! Iska matlab hai ki same fuel se zyada energy milegi aur nuclear waste bhi kaafi kam hoga. Yeh thorium-based fuel ko uranium ka ek strong alternative banane ki taraf ek bada kadam hai.
India Ki Energy Strategy Ko Boost!
Yeh achievement India ke liye bahut important hai, kyunki India ke paas thorium ke kaafi bade reserves hain. CCTE ne India ki sarkari company NTPC Ltd. ke saath partnership ki hai taaki yeh ANEEL fuel India ke existing PHWR fleet mein use ho sake. Is partnership ka goal hai India ki energy security badhana, nuclear waste kam karna, aur safety & proliferation resistance ko sudharna. CCTE America ki pehli companies mein se hai jinko India mein nuclear technology export karne ka license mila hai, woh bhi pichle 20 saalon mein. Is deal mein ANEEL fuel ki local manufacturing aur High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) ki supply chain develop karna bhi shamil hai, jo ki fuel ka ek crucial component hai.
Market Mein Kya Chalaeghi?
Yeh high burnup test ANEEL fuel ko market mein ek strong contender banata hai. Traditional reactors 7-8 GWd/MTU pe chalte hain, jabki advanced designs zyada targets rakh rahe hain. Thorium fuel, jaise ANEEL, shayad existing reactor infrastructure mein thode se badlav ke saath fit ho sakta hai, jo iske widespread use ke liye acha hai. HALEU fuel market bhi badh raha hai, jahan abhi supply kaafi limited hai aur Russia ek major player hai. Waste reduction toh puri duniya ki priority hai, aur aise technologies jisme waste 80% tak kam ho sakta hai, unki demand bahut zyada hai.
Challenges Bhi Kam Nahi Hain
Sab kuch itna hi aasan nahi hai. Commercial use ke liye is fuel ko regulatory approvals chahiye honge, specific testing karni padegi, aur shayad reactors mein kuch modifications bhi lagein. India ke strict regulators, jaise DAE aur AERB, process ko lamba kar sakte hain. HALEU ke liye import par depend karna India ki self-sufficiency goal ke khilaaf ja sakta hai. Plus, China jaise countries bhi thorium fuel pe kaam kar rahe hain, aur alag-alag companies bhi advanced fuel cycles develop kar rahi hain. CCTE ko bhi apna funding arrange karna padega.
