FSSAI ka naya plan aur court ka drama
FSSAI chahti hai ki jitne bhi packaged foods hain, agar unme sugar, saturated fat ya salt ek limit se zyada hai, toh us par white background par ek Red Hexagon ka warning label ho. Lekin, implementation ka timeline itna kharab hai ki Supreme Court ne ise saaf-saaf 'unreasonable' bol diya hai. September 2026 ke affidavit mein regulator ne single-phase implementation ki baat kahi hai, matlab agar ek bhi nutrient limit cross karta hai, toh red label mandatory hoga.
Industry ki kya dikkat hai?
All India Food Processors Association jaise groups iske khilaaf khade ho gaye hain. Unka kehna hai ki ye red color logo 'Veg/Non-veg' wale green/brown dots ke saath confusion create karega. Saath hi, 100-gram weight ka parameter bhi galat hai, company chahti hain ki 'serving size' ke hisaab se calculation ho, taaki unke products unfairly target na hon.
Investors ke liye kyun zaruri hai?
Agar ye rule लागू (apply) hua, toh FMCG stocks par bura asar pad sakta hai. Jin products par 'Red Label' lagega, unki demand girne ka darr hai. Companies ko ya toh product change karna padega (reformulation), jisse R&D costs badhengi, ya phir unki brand image kharab hogi. Investors ko ab agle court orders aur FSSAI ke final notifications par nazar rakhni chahiye, kyunki wahi batayenge ki kitna bada impact hone wala hai.
