NCDEX ne Skymet ki baaton ko pura pura reject kar diya!

Dekho bhaiyo, National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) ne private weather forecaster Skymet ki saari baaton ko thukra diya hai. Skymet ne NCDEX ke upcoming weather derivatives contracts par objections uthaye hain. Yeh contracts June 1, 2026 se start hone wale hain aur SEBI approved hain. Khaas baat yeh hai ki Mumbai ke liye banaye gaye 'RAINMUMBAI' contract mein official data India Meteorological Department (IMD) se liya jayega. Skymet ne toh NCDEX par data sharing agreement ka ulaanan lagaya tha aur legal action ki dhamki bhi di thi.

Lekin NCDEX ne saaf kar diya hai ki Skymet ke saath jo bhi pehle baat hui thi woh sirf exploratory thi, matlab kuch research wagera. Woh agreement ab khatam ho chuka hai.

Kya hai yeh 'RAINMUMBAI' Contract?

Yeh 'RAINMUMBAI' contract India mein climate risk management ke liye ek bada step hai. Yeh cash-settled futures contract hoga jo Mumbai mein monsoon ke mahinon (June se September) mein hone wali baarish ke deviations par based hoga. Iske liye IMD se data liya jayega aur ek robust 30-year historical dataset (1991-2020 LPA) ko benchmark banaya jayega. IIT Bombay ke saath milkar banaya gaya yeh contract, monsoon ki variability ko ek tradable risk banane ka goal rakhta hai. Trading May 29, 2026 se start hogi aur September 30 tak chalegi.

Skymet ka kya Scene hai?

NCDEX toh official data aur regulations follow karne ki baat kar raha hai. Lekin Skymet ka objection shayad isliye hai kyunki woh apna business model aur future revenue streams protect karna chahta hai. Unka kehna hai ki unka pehle se agreement tha aur 'baseline data' bhi liya gaya tha. Yeh dispute dikhata hai ki weather data ka value sirf forecasting mein nahi, balki financial instruments mein bhi badh raha hai. Global weather derivatives market 2033 tak $7.2 billion tak pahunchne ki ummeed hai.

Regulatory Angle?

India mein exchange-traded weather derivatives ko Securities Contract Regulation Act (SCRA) of 1956 mein amendments ke baad approval mila hai. Isse price discovery aur liquidity improve hogi. Global market mein futures contracts kaafi share rakhte hain. India jaise country mein, jahan monsoon ka asar kafi hota hai, yeh instruments bahut important hain. Insurance se alag, weather derivatives mein loss assessment ki zaroorat nahi hoti, settlement seedha data par hota hai. 'RAINMUMBAI' ek pioneering move hai, aur NCDEX ise world's first rainfall index for weather derivatives banana chahta hai.
