Aise kaise koi resign kar sakta hai?

Asal mein, chairman Atanu Chakraborty ne March 18, 2026 ko resign kiya, unhone kaha ki bank ke andar 'certain happenings and practices' thi jo unke personal ethics se match nahi karti. Baad mein pata chala ki AT-1 bonds ki alleged mis-selling aur bank ki underperformance bhi reasons ho sakte hain, haalanki unki initial letter mein zyada details nahi thi.

RBI ne toh Keki Mistry ko interim chairman bana diya hai aur keh rahe hain ki abhi koi badi chinta nahi hai. Par AIBEA rukne wala nahi hai. Unhone March 31, 2026 ko Finance Minister ko ek letter likha hai, jisme bank ki governance, oversight, aur stability par sawal uthaye gaye hain.

Market mein toh hahakaar macha hua hai!

Jab se yeh khabar aayi, HDFC Bank ke shares seedha 8.5% tak gir gaye the 19 March, 2026 ko. Poore saal mein stock lagbhag 25% neeche aa gaya hai. Lagta hai log ab sirf fundamentals nahi, governance ko zyada importance de rahe hain. JPMorgan analysts ne kaha ki isse stock par 'governance risk premium' badh sakta hai. Yahan tak ki Macquarie ne toh bank ko apni buy list se hata diya, although fundamentals acche hain.

Yeh sirf HDFC Bank ki kahani nahi hai!

Bade banks jaise Yes Bank, IDFC First Bank, aur Kotak Mahindra Bank mein bhi recently governance aur leadership issues dekhne ko mile hain. Nifty Bank index bhi isi wajah se pressure mein hai. HDFC Bank ka merger HDFC Ltd ke saath hua tha, jisse bank toh bada ho gaya par integration mein dikkat aur profit margin par pressure dekhne ko mila. Q3FY26 mein net interest margin (NIM) 3.35% raha, aur credit-deposit ratio (LDR) 99% ke paas hai, jo kafi high hai.

Sabse badi problem toh ye hai ki Chakraborty ne resign karne ka reason clear nahi bataya.

Is vagueness se market mein speculation badh rahi hai. Agar report hui internal disagreements sahi nikli, toh bank ke liye mushkil ho jayegi. AIBEA ki CBI ya CVC probe ki maang agar maani gayi toh aur bhi systemic issues bahar aa sakte hain. Aur haan, governance issues se recover karne mein 12-24 months lag sakte hain, jaise ki Yes Bank case mein dekha tha.

Ab kya hoga?

HDFC Bank ko ab bahut scrutiny se guzarana padega. RBI ne assurance di hai, par investors ka trust wapas lane ke liye aur zyada transparency chahiye. Dekhna hoga ki bank is situation ko kaise handle karta hai.
