India apni fertilizer demand ka **68.6%** import karta hai, jo agritech aur fertilizer companies ke liye bada risk hai. Saath hi, pulses ka domestic production kam hone se imports record **7.34 million tonnes** pahunch gaye hain.
Problem ki jad: Kahan fas rahi hai baat?
Agriculture sector ke liye ek bada structural challenge khada ho gaya hai. India ki fertilizer supply ka 68.6% hissa bahar se aata hai, jiska matlab hai ki Coromandel International, Chambal Fertilisers, RCF, aur GNFC jaise stocks global price shocks ke liye kaafi vulnerable hain.
Urea ke liye natural gas ke daam aur potash/rock phosphate ke liye 90% se zyada import par nirbhar rehna, companies ke margins ko kabhi bhi hit kar sakta hai. Jab tak government subsidy time par adjust nahi karti, investors ke liye margin pressure ek badi chinta rehti hai.
Pulses aur Water Crisis ka double attack
Protein ke liye zaroori pulses ki kheti ka area 30.6 million hectares (2021-22) se girkar 26.9 million hectares (2024-25) ho gaya hai. Iska result ye nikla ki humein 7.34 million tonnes pulses import karni padi, jo food inflation ko aur badha raha hai.
Iske alawa, groundwater levels ka girna bhi ek alarming signal hai. Per capita renewable freshwater ab sirf 1,014 cubic metres reh gaya hai, jo 1,700 cubic metres ki water-stress limit se kaafi neeche hai.
Investors ke liye take-away
Aage chalkar, humein government ki subsidy policies aur irrigation infrastructure par nazar rakhni hogi. Jab tak ye dependencies solve nahi hoti, agriculture aur food processing sector mein supply-side volatility bani rahegi.
