Connectivity to the Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to be greatly improved with the development of an extensive multi-modal transport network. The Uttar Pradesh government announced that this network will link the airport to key regions including Delhi-NCR, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Meerut, and Haryana, ensuring swift, secure, and eco-friendly access for passengers, tourists, and industries.
Key road links include direct access via the Yamuna Expressway and improved connections from Haryana and western India through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (Ballabhgarh Link). The airport will also benefit from rapid progress on links to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, providing direct routes to Ghaziabad, Meerut, Palwal, and Sonipat. Additionally, North and East access roads for cargo traffic are nearing completion, alongside a local service road connecting to the Yamuna Expressway.
In terms of rail connectivity, the government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Delhi-Jewar Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor. The Railway Ministry is also working on connecting the airport to the Chola-Rundhi rail line, and a new Jewar station is planned for the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor.
Public transport will see enhanced services through an agreement with UPSRTC for links to nearby cities and metro networks. Interstate bus services will operate in coordination with Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Furthermore, 500 electric buses, jointly managed by Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Authority, will offer green transit options. Cab and car rental services, including a dedicated NIA-branded service by Mahindra Logistics and on-demand services from Uber, Rapido, MakeMyTrip, and Ola, will ensure convenient last-mile connectivity.
Impact: This comprehensive connectivity plan is crucial for the airport's success, promising to transform it into North India's largest aviation hub. It will significantly boost regional economic activity, facilitate tourism, and streamline logistics for industries. The integration of road, rail, rapid rail, and bus services will enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency. Rating: 9/10
