Shadowfax Q1 Profit Jumps 8x to ₹65 Crore on Volume Growth

Logistics firm Shadowfax reported an eight-fold increase in net profit to ₹65 crore for the June quarter, driven by a 65% rise in revenue to ₹1,358 crore. The growth was led by a surge in express delivery orders, though the company’s SME and personal courier segment saw a decline. Investors are now monitoring how the firm maintains margins while expanding its national delivery network.

Shadowfax, a major player in the third-party logistics space, posted a sharp improvement in its financial performance for the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year. The company recorded a net profit of ₹65 crore, a significant increase from ₹8 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Operating revenue followed a similar trend, growing 65% year-on-year to reach ₹1,358 crore, compared to ₹823.5 crore in the same period last year. This performance reflects a period of high volume growth, as the company processed 24.7 crore orders during the quarter, marking an 83% increase over the previous year.

Segment Performance and Delivery Trends

The company’s growth remains concentrated in the express delivery business, which generated ₹997 crore in revenue, an 87% increase compared to the previous year. Its hyperlocal delivery business, which provides services for food and quick-commerce platforms, also saw steady momentum with revenue reaching ₹272 crore, a 53% increase year-on-year. Conversely, the company’s SME and personal courier segment faced pressure, with revenue falling 22% to ₹89 crore, highlighting a shift in business focus toward higher-volume e-commerce and quick-commerce logistics.

Network Expansion and Operational Goals

Shadowfax currently reaches 16,372 pincodes across India and has outlined plans to add 200 to 250 pincodes every month. The company aims to achieve complete national pincode coverage by the end of the 2027-28 fiscal year. The firm remains focused on strengthening its partnership with major e-commerce platforms to capture more volume. As the logistics sector in India sees high competition from both established players and new-age tech-enabled firms, maintaining service quality while expanding reach into smaller towns will be a key challenge for the company.

Investor Monitorables

The primary monitorable for stakeholders remains the sustainability of these profit margins amid aggressive network expansion and competitive pricing in the express delivery sector. Investors will track whether the growth in e-commerce and quick-commerce volumes can offset the decline in the SME and personal courier segments. Additionally, the ability of the company to manage the cost of onboarding new delivery locations and maintaining operational efficiency will be critical to long-term profitability. Future updates on the pace of network expansion and the stability of its major client contracts will provide further clarity on the company's growth trajectory.
