RVNL Shares Rise 2% Despite Profit Dip; Board to Review Q1 Results Aug 11

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) shares climbed 2.11% to Rs 233.83 on Thursday. While the company faces pressure on its profit margins, it maintains a strong order book exceeding Rs 99,000 crore. Investors are shifting focus to the upcoming board meeting on August 11, 2026, where the company will review its June quarter financial performance.

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) stock witnessed an uptick in Thursday's trading, gaining 2.11% to reach Rs 233.83. This market movement comes as investors balance the company's strong project pipeline against concerns regarding recent profitability trends.

While the company has reported growth in revenue, its bottom line has been under pressure. For the fiscal year ending March 2026, RVNL saw a significant decline in consolidated net profit, which fell by approximately 34.52% to Rs 776.78 crore, despite a 2.46% increase in revenue. The quarterly picture for the period ending March 2026 showed a similar trend, with profits dropping 33.67% even as revenue grew by 42.92% compared to the previous quarter. This gap between rising revenue and falling profit is a key area investors are monitoring, often linked to rising operational expenses and project-specific execution costs in the competitive EPC sector.

On a positive note, the company’s balance sheet has shown improvement. RVNL has successfully reduced its debt-to-equity ratio from 1.03 in FY22 to 0.49 by FY26, suggesting more disciplined capital management. Furthermore, the company continues to secure new business, maintaining a robust order book that now exceeds Rs 99,000 crore. This includes significant recent project wins, such as the Rs 358.97 crore order from East Central Railway, which helps provide visibility into future revenue.

Market participants are now looking toward the company's upcoming board meeting scheduled for August 11, 2026. This meeting will be critical as the board reviews the unaudited financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026. These results may provide clues into whether the company has been able to control costs and improve its margins in the current fiscal year.

Additionally, shareholders have an important date to mark on their calendars regarding returns. The company has declared a final dividend of Rs 0.71 per share for FY26, with the record date set for August 18, 2026. As the stock trades below its 52-week highs, the upcoming earnings announcement and the company’s ability to turn its massive order book into consistent profit will remain the primary focus for stakeholders.
