Technology and Specifications
The Eicher Skyline Pro E 13.5m electric sleeper bus is engineered for comfort and efficiency. Each bus features a 36+D layout with upper and lower berths, powered by a substantial 400 kWh Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery. Propulsion comes from a 235 kW permanent magnet motor, delivering adequate power for intercity journeys. The buses are equipped with front and rear air suspension for a smoother ride, advanced braking systems for safety, and other energy-efficient technologies designed to optimize range and operational performance.
Funding Fuels Expansion
LeafyBus has secured USD 4.1 million in funding from Enetra India Pvt. Ltd. This capital injection is earmarked for fleet expansion, the development of essential charging infrastructure, and the creation of new routes. The company's ambition is to launch at least one new EV travel corridor monthly, underscoring a rapid national expansion strategy. LeafyBus currently operates daily long-distance electric services between Delhi and Dehradun, demonstrating its operational capacity.
A Milestone for Joint Venture
This initiative also represents a significant entry for the Volvo Group into India's intercity electric bus segment through its joint venture with Eicher. Both companies are collaborating closely on critical operational aspects, including route planning, charging infrastructure design, and comprehensive uptime and operational support. The goal is to ensure that EV travel transitions from an experimental option to a consistent, commercially viable, and widely accessible mode of transport.
