A new study by HERE Technologies and SBD Automotive, the HERE-SBD EV Index, ranks Indian states on electric vehicle (EV) adoption and charging infrastructure. Chandigarh, Karnataka, and Goa emerge as the top three best places for EV owners, driven by progressive policies, expanding infrastructure, and consumer acceptance. Conversely, Jharkhand, Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Arunachal Pradesh present significant challenges for EV usage. The index highlights the uneven progress in charging infrastructure expansion versus rapid EV adoption, alongside user-reported issues like faulty chargers, as critical factors for future growth.
