IndiGo will be the launch carrier at Noida International Airport (NIA), beginning commercial operations on June 15, 2026. This marks a strategic expansion into a key growth area for Indian aviation. The airline plans a phased approach, initially linking NIA to over 16 domestic destinations. The network includes major cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad, along with important tier-II and tier-III cities such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Srinagar.
Noida International Airport's operational launch makes it the third airport serving the National Capital Region (NCR), alongside Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport. This development strengthens IndiGo's already dominant position in the country's growing air travel market. IndiGo has started opening flight bookings for these routes via its website and app.
Flights will begin with inaugural services to Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Noida on June 15, followed by daily flights to Hyderabad, Amritsar, and Jammu starting the next day. By July 1, IndiGo plans to substantially expand its network from NIA, adding routes to Srinagar, Navi Mumbai, Bhopal, and Jaipur, among others.
IndiGo's Chief Strategy Officer, Aloke Singh, noted this reflects a trend of major Indian cities developing multi-airport systems to handle increased traffic. The airport's strategic location is expected to ease congestion at Delhi's IGI Airport and improve connectivity for western Uttar Pradesh and the wider NCR.
IndiGo's expansion at NIA highlights the growing role of regional air travel, with many new routes targeting underserved markets. The airline currently flies over 2,200 daily flights using a fleet of more than 400 aircraft, having transported 124 million passengers in 2025. This expansion aligns with the government's wider plans for aviation growth and aims to boost passenger movement across the region.
