IndiGo Adds 30+ Navi Mumbai Routes, Expands Gujarat; Stock Falls
Overview

IndiGo has launched more than 30 new routes from Navi Mumbai International Airport, boosting regional travel and strengthening its Gujarat presence with direct flights to Bhavnagar. The airline now serves six Gujarat cities with over 1,400 weekly flights. The expansion news coincided with a dip in Interglobe Aviation Ltd. shares.

Major Network Expansion from Navi Mumbai

IndiGo has significantly expanded its domestic network by adding over 30 new routes from Navi Mumbai International Airport. These new connections, operational from March 29 through April 23, are set to boost regional travel and serve more passengers.
Key new routes include connections to cities like Agra, Ayodhya, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Patna, Srinagar, and Varanasi. Once fully rolled out, IndiGo expects to operate over 400 weekly departures from Navi Mumbai, strengthening its role as a hub.

Strengthening Gujarat Footprint

In parallel, IndiGo has launched direct, twice-daily flights between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai, also starting March 29. This move is part of a larger strategy to enhance access to smaller cities and improve connectivity across Gujarat. IndiGo now serves six cities in the state: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Jamnagar. The airline anticipates operating more than 1,400 weekly flights to and from Gujarat, underscoring its focus on the region.

Market Reaction Amidst Growth

However, despite this significant operational growth, shares of Interglobe Aviation Ltd., IndiGo's parent company, fell. The stock closed 4.48% lower on Friday, March 28, following the route announcements. The stock had also dropped 9.25% in the preceding month.
IndiGo operates a fleet of over 400 aircraft, managing more than 2,200 daily flights to over 95 domestic and 40 international destinations. The airline carried 124 million passengers in 2025, demonstrating its large-scale operations. These new routes are intended to capture further market share and offer passengers more travel choices.
