A Flydubai flight, FZ1073, en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following a mid-air altercation inside the cockpit. The incident involved the captain, Smit Machchhar, and his co-pilot. The flight was carrying 174 passengers when the situation escalated approximately two hours into the journey.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, initiated a rapid descent from 34,000 feet to 16,000 feet as the crew managed the crisis. The pilots transmitted emergency codes 7700 and 7500, with the latter specifically indicating unlawful interference or a potential security threat to air traffic control. This distress signal triggered an immediate security response, which included the deployment of fighter jets in the region.

Captain Machchhar, an Indian national and former pilot with SpiceJet, sustained injuries during the physical confrontation but managed to maintain control of the aircraft, ensuring a safe landing. Both pilots were hospitalized upon arrival in Tabuk. Flydubai confirmed that all passengers and crew on board were safe, and the airline is working to arrange alternative travel for the stranded passengers.
