India Set to Become FlixBus's Top Market by 2030
FlixBus, the global travel-tech company, has set ambitious goals for India, projecting it will become its largest market by passenger volume by 2030. This vision highlights the significant strategic importance India holds for the Munich-based firm.
30% Network Growth This Summer
Since launching in India in February 2024, FlixBus has rapidly expanded. The company aims to grow its network by 30% this summer. Key routes for this expansion include the Delhi-Dehradun corridor, which benefits from improved highway connectivity, and routes linking Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. FlixBus already connects over 300 cities across North, West, and South India, using more than 1,800 stops.
Huge Potential in India's Bus Market
FlixBus Chief Commercial Officer Max Zeumer emphasized India's vast potential, noting it is the world's second-largest bus market. He highlighted that India's air-conditioned intercity bus segment alone is larger than the combined markets of Europe and the United States, representing a huge opportunity.
Partnering for Scalability
FlixBus operates an asset-light model, partnering with over 60 local small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) fleet operators. This approach allows for rapid scaling while ensuring consistent service quality across its growing network. The company's services cover major cities and towns nationwide, including Delhi, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
