Delhivery Q1 Profit Falls 65% to ₹31.9 Crore Despite Revenue Growth

Delhivery posted a 28% jump in Q1 revenue to ₹2,931 crore, but net profit declined 65% to ₹31.9 crore. Higher operating costs from wage hikes, fuel prices, and the integration of Ecom Express squeezed profit margins. Investors are now watching if the company can meet its margin recovery targets for the second half of the year.

Logistics major Delhivery reported its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, highlighting a sharp contrast between volume growth and bottom-line performance. While the company achieved a strong 28% year-on-year growth in revenue, reaching ₹2,931 crore, its consolidated net profit dropped by 65% to ₹31.9 crore compared to the same quarter last year.

The decline in profitability was primarily driven by margin compression. Operating profit margins were hit by a combination of three key factors: wage-related adjustments following minimum wage revisions, increased fuel expenses, and costs associated with the integration of the newly acquired Ecom Express business. These inflationary and operational pressures overshadowed the topline gains, leading to a period of caution for shareholders.

Strong Volume Performance in Core Segments

Despite the profit pressure, Delhivery’s operational metrics indicate healthy demand for its core services. The express parcel segment, which serves as a major revenue driver, recorded a 55% surge in volumes, handling 322 million shipments during the quarter. Similarly, the part-truckload (PTL) business saw an 18% increase in volumes, managing 542,000 metric tonnes of cargo. This growth was supported by both existing client demand and the acquisition of new customers.

Outlook and Margin Recovery Targets

Management has maintained its guidance for the full fiscal year 2027, expressing confidence in a margin rebound. The company has reaffirmed its target to reach EBITDA margins of 16% to 18% for express parcel services and 15% to 15.5% for the PTL segment by the second half of the year. The strategy relies on operating leverage—where the cost of handling each additional unit decreases as volume grows—and better fuel pass-through mechanisms to protect margins against volatility.

Market Reaction and Investor Monitorables

As of August 13, 2026, the stock has been trading around ₹467, reflecting market caution following the earnings release. While some brokerage firms continue to maintain a "buy" rating, others have reduced their profit estimates for FY27, noting that the path to margin recovery may be slower than previously anticipated. The primary risk for investors remains the potential for continued volatility in profitability if fuel costs remain elevated or if the integration of Ecom Express takes longer than expected.

The key focus for investors in the coming quarters will be the company's ability to demonstrate consistent margin expansion. The market will specifically track management's success in managing wage regulations, streamlining integrated operations, and effectively passing on fuel-related cost increases to customers.
