Ceigall India: Delhi PWD Cancels ₹331 Crore Road Tender

The Delhi Public Works Department has cancelled a ₹330.84 crore road maintenance tender previously awarded to Ceigall India. While this creates uncertainty for the company's order pipeline, the firm recently reported a 15.5% rise in quarterly profit. Investors may track how procurement policies and tender processes affect the company’s future project execution.

Ceigall India Ltd confirmed on August 17, 2026, that the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) has cancelled a road strengthening tender valued at ₹330.84 crore. The project, which covered works in the South Maintenance Zone for the 2026-27 period, was previously expected to be a significant addition to the company's order book. Ceigall India had been declared the lowest bidder, or L1, for this project in June 2026.

The official reason provided by the department for the cancellation was "documentary consideration." For investors, this development highlights the unpredictable nature of government infrastructure projects. While winning bids is a core part of the business, tender cancellations or delays due to procedural or documentary issues are a known risk in the infrastructure sector. This can occasionally impact the visibility of a company's order intake and future revenue growth.

Despite this setback, the company’s underlying financial performance remains a key point of reference for investors. In the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, Ceigall India reported a consolidated net profit of ₹61 crore, which is a 15.5% increase compared to the ₹53 crore profit earned in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations also showed growth, rising 16% to ₹970 crore from ₹838 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The company’s operational efficiency also showed improvement during the quarter. The Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA)—a measure of core business profitability—grew by 32% to reach ₹143.8 crore. Consequently, the operating margin expanded to 14.8%, up from 13% in the same quarter last year. These figures suggest that the company’s existing project portfolio is generating healthy returns.

In addition to the operational updates, the company has declared a record date of September 11, 2026, for its final dividend of ₹0.50 per equity share for the financial year ended March 31, 2026. This is subject to the approval of shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

Moving forward, investors may want to monitor the company’s ability to replenish its order book. The impact of such tender cancellations on the long-term order pipeline is a common area of concern for infrastructure companies. Understanding the company's success rate in finalising awarded tenders and managing procurement risks will be essential for assessing its growth consistency in the coming quarters.
