Amazon Takes Fast Delivery Service Global
Amazon is rolling out its 'Amazon Now' quick commerce service globally, taking the ultra-fast delivery model it tested in India to the US and Europe. CEO Andy Jassy has prioritized delivery speed and artificial intelligence, with the company investing heavily in both.
AI, Robots Power Amazon's Delivery Speed
Amazon is investing in various ways to speed up deliveries. It's developing multiple systems for enhanced speed and efficiency. In the US, over 85 delivery centers now stock about 90,000 products for same-day delivery. The company is also using over one million robots in its fulfillment centers to process orders faster and cut costs. Projects like Prime Air aim for 30-minute deliveries to millions by year-end.
Fast Delivery Battle Intensifies
Jefferies expects Amazon's focus on ultra-fast deliveries to heat up competition in the quick commerce market. The firm also sees a trend towards shorter delivery windows, which could expand rapid delivery beyond groceries to other retail categories. Jefferies kept its 'Buy' ratings for Eternal and Swiggy, noting Swiggy carries higher risk due to its current losses and ongoing changes.
