Detailed Coverage :

Zostel, a leading backpacker hostel chain, is set to reach a significant milestone with the launch of its 100th property this week. Operating entirely on a franchise-based model, Zostel is aggressively pursuing growth, with 29 more properties scheduled to open in the next six months. The company recently launched its first international hostel in Phuket and has ambitious plans to enter markets across Asia and beyond. By 2027, Zostel aims to have hostels in Bangkok, Bali, the Philippines, Tokyo, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Sri Lanka, and even the United States, with a planned Zo House in Brooklyn.

The company reports profitability at scale and is exploring an Initial Public Offering (IPO) within the next three to four years. Zostel has also invested in synergy brands like Zo House and Zo Trips, which are now also profitable. To fund its international expansion, Zostel is in talks with venture capital and private equity firms for a new funding round. Founded in 2013, Zostel has grown organically without spending on marketing, emphasizing unit economics positive from day one.

The franchise program has attracted significant investor interest, receiving thousands of applications. Zostel prioritizes selecting partners who align with its brand identity. The company sees immense potential in India's backpacking market, which it believes is still developing compared to other regions. Zostel is also collaborating with state governments to develop new tourism destinations and homestay ecosystems.
