LMW Profit Jumps 5x to ₹55 Crore on Higher Textile Demand

Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) reported a five-fold jump in quarterly net profit to ₹55 crore as revenue rose 24% to ₹861 crore. The company is seeing a recovery in demand for textile machinery supported by government incentives. Investors should track how the company manages rising manufacturing costs, which have increased by about 3-3.5% due to higher input prices.

Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) has reported a significant improvement in its financial performance for the first quarter ending June 30, 2026. The company’s consolidated net profit rose sharply to ₹55 crore, compared to ₹11 crore in the same period last year. Revenue also showed growth, increasing 24% to ₹861 crore from ₹694 crore year-on-year. This performance comes as the textile machinery maker sees signs of a market recovery in the spinning sector.

Order Book and Demand Outlook

The company’s textile machinery division currently holds an order book of ₹3,200 crore. Of this total, ₹2,400 crore consists of orders backed by a 10% customer advance, which provides a layer of financial security against order cancellations. Demand is being supported by new investment proposals in states like Gujarat, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh, where local incentive schemes are encouraging spinning mills to modernize their facilities. According to the company, while the recovery is expected to be gradual rather than sharp, the move toward modernization is necessary for mills to remain competitive.

Managing Rising Input Costs

Despite the positive demand outlook, LMW is navigating pressure on its profit margins due to rising manufacturing costs. The company reported that expenses related to raw materials, logistics, and energy have increased by approximately 3-3.5%. These cost pressures are driven by higher prices for imported components, fuel, and industrial gases. To protect its margins, the management is focusing on increasing the use of locally sourced materials, optimizing internal costs, and making selective price adjustments for its machinery.

Business Diversification Strategy

LMW recently proposed amendments to its Memorandum of Association to allow entry into new areas such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, robotics, and pharmaceuticals. The company clarified that this move is currently only an enabling resolution to provide legal flexibility for future evaluations. No immediate capital spending or entry into these sectors has been announced. Investors may watch for future official filings if the company decides to commit capital to these new areas, as significant diversification could impact the company's cash flow and focus on its core textile machinery business. The next key update for shareholders will be the continued trend in order book execution and the company's ability to offset rising input costs in the coming quarters.
