Garment Expo Poised for ₹1,600 Crore Business Surge
Kolkata – The West Bengal garment industry is gearing up for a significant economic boost as its three-day buyers-sellers meet and B2B expo commenced on Sunday. The event, organized by the association of garment manufacturers and dealers in the state, is projected to generate approximately ₹1,600 crore in wholesale business transactions.
Spanning over two lakh square feet, the expo serves as a vibrant marketplace for more than 1,000 national and international brands. These brands are presenting a wide array of readymade garments for men, women, and children, catering to diverse market demands.
"The 60th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet and B2B Expo marks a significant milestone for us," stated Hari Kishan Rathi, president of the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association. "Our objective is to provide a dynamic platform where businesses can connect, explore emerging market trends and expand their reach. We expect the event to generate business worth nearly Rs 1,600 crore."
Rathi further emphasized the event's role in strengthening trade partnerships and creating new business avenues. The participation of over 1,000 brands and international buyers is expected to significantly contribute to the growth of West Bengal's garment and textile sector.
Devendra Baid, the association's honorary secretary, highlighted the industry's economic importance. "The garment industry is one of the largest employment generators and an important contributor to the state's economy," he noted, underscoring the expo's potential impact on job creation and state revenue.
