Reliance Jio announced on Tuesday that it has successfully connected over one million homes and business premises in Punjab with its high-speed broadband and home entertainment services, namely JioFiber and JioAirFiber. This milestone underscores the rapid expansion of digital connectivity across the state.
According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), JioAirFiber has garnered approximately 6 lakh subscribers, while around 4.40 lakh premises are now linked with the high-speed JioFiber service as of September 30, 2023 (assuming a typo correction from the source date). Furthermore, Reliance Jio's True 5G service is now ubiquitously available, reaching every home and small business across all 23 districts, 98 tehsils, and thousands of villages in Punjab.
The swift adoption of JioAirFiber is particularly noted for its contribution to enhancing Punjab's digital infrastructure, leading to substantial improvements in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and entertainment. The service is instrumental in overcoming last-mile connectivity challenges, especially in rural and remote areas where extending traditional optical fibre networks can be complex and time-consuming. JioAirFiber provides users with an integrated solution to upgrade their home entertainment and broadband experience to a world-class, cutting-edge digital platform.
Impact: This achievement highlights Reliance Jio's aggressive growth strategy and successful market penetration, signaling strong competition in the Indian telecom sector and a positive contribution to the nation's digital transformation. It enhances Jio's subscriber base and revenue potential. Rating: 8/10
