Kaynes Technology Stock Tumbles: Management Breaks Silence on Analyst Report & Promises Turnaround!

Stocks Mentioned

Kaynes Technology India Limited

Kaynes Technology's management is actively addressing investor worries following a sharp decline in its stock price. This decline was triggered by an analyst report that highlighted alleged discrepancies in the company's financial disclosures, specifically concerning inter-company transactions, payables, and receivables between the parent and its subsidiaries.

Management's Clarification

Executive Vice Chairman Ramesh Kunhikannan stated that the company's consolidated financial statements are accurate and free from material errors. He acknowledged a reporting omission in the standalone accounts of one subsidiary but emphasized that this did not affect the overall consolidated financials. Kunhikannan also addressed a reported ₹45-46 crore receivable from the parent company to its smart metering subsidiary, Iskraemeco. He explained that this was an "aged receivable" present at the time of the subsidiary's acquisition and committed to resolving it by the end of the current financial year.

Strengthening Financial Processes

In response to concerns about internal controls, Kunhikannan indicated that while several controls are already in place, the company will undertake a comprehensive review to strengthen its policies across all subsidiaries. Kaynes Technology has already filed a clarification with the stock exchanges and is planning a group call to engage with stakeholders directly and address all concerns thoroughly.

Operational Improvements

Beyond accounting clarifications, the discussion touched upon the company's working capital cycle and cash flow generation. Kunhikannan acknowledged that electronic manufacturing is capital-intensive but set a clear target: to bring the cash cycle to below 90 days by the financial year-end. Furthermore, the company projects achieving positive operating cash flow by March of the current financial year, signaling a significant operational and financial improvement.

Impact

  • This situation could impact investor sentiment towards Kaynes Technology and potentially other companies in the electronic manufacturing services (EMS) sector.
  • Successful resolution of discrepancies and achievement of financial targets are crucial for restoring investor confidence and driving future stock performance.
  • The proactive communication and planned corrective actions are positive steps for corporate governance.
  • Impact Rating: 7
