Uttar Pradesh Electronics Deals Hit ₹60,000 Crore

Uttar Pradesh now produces nearly 65% of India's mobile phones, backed by ₹60,000 crore in electronics and semiconductor investments. This expansion, centered in the Noida-Greater Noida region, involves major global brands and local contract manufacturers.

Detailed Coverage

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading hub for electronics manufacturing in India, currently accounting for nearly 65% of the nation's mobile phone production. This growth is supported by a combined investment pipeline of over ₹60,000 crore across electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, according to state government data.

The investment landscape comprises ₹28,000 crore from over 75 companies attracted by state policy incentives, alongside ₹32,146 crore specifically earmarked for semiconductor projects. This concentration of capital has turned the Noida-Greater Noida belt into a primary industrial corridor for global smartphone brands including Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and LG.

Manufacturing Ecosystem and Component Supply

The state's industrial strategy has moved beyond the assembly of finished devices to include the domestic production of essential components. Contract manufacturers such as Dixon Technologies, Optiemus, and Padget Electronics have established significant operational capacity in the region. Furthermore, the supply chain is supported by companies like Samkwang, Holitech, and Minda Corporation, which manufacture items such as display modules, capacitors, and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).

Export Growth and Policy Impact

The focus on electronics production has translated into a notable rise in export values. Electronics exports from the state grew from negligible levels in 2015 to $2.58 billion in the 2022-23 financial year, capturing over 16% of India's total electronics exports. Smartphone exports alone reached $17.5 billion in FY25, indicating that the state is becoming a permanent fixture in global electronics supply chains.

Semiconductor Projects and Future Focus

A critical component of the future investment plan is the semiconductor ecosystem, with the HCL-Foxconn display driver chip facility near Jewar serving as a major project. While the state aims to expand into AI, robotics, and drone manufacturing, the success of these capital-intensive projects will depend on continued infrastructure development and logistics efficiency in the Delhi-NCR region.

Investors monitoring this sector may track the commissioning timelines of these large semiconductor projects, as well as the ability of companies to maintain margins amid fluctuations in global demand for consumer electronics. Future updates regarding the actual deployment of these investment commitments and the progress of the Jewar infrastructure projects will be important to observe to understand the long-term impact on the electronics manufacturing sector in India.
