Unicommerce eSolutions reported an 11% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 6.4 crore for the September quarter, driven by a 15% revenue growth. The company successfully added 121 enterprise clients, reducing its dependence on top customers. While aggressive investment in AI and marketing has squeezed profit margins, management expects operational efficiency to improve in the second half of the year.
Unicommerce eSolutions reported a steady financial performance for the quarter ending September 2026. The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 6.4 crore, an 11% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter rose 15% to reach Rs 59.1 crore.
A significant part of the company’s current strategy involves growing its enterprise client base to reduce revenue concentration. During the quarter, Unicommerce added 121 new enterprise clients, taking the total count to 1,233. This diversification is notable, as the revenue contribution from its top 10 clients declined to 10.5% from 15.1% previously. The company onboarded major brands including United Colors of Benetton, Amul Macho, and Furlenco, indicating a continued push into the broader e-commerce market.
While revenue and client numbers grew, profitability metrics faced pressure during the quarter. Operating expenses rose 19% to Rs 52.8 crore, primarily due to front-loaded spending on marketing and research for its new AI-driven assistant, DNA. As a result, the adjusted EBITDA margin narrowed to 17% from 22.2% in the prior-year period. Investors may monitor whether these costs moderate as planned, as management expects to see improved operating leverage in the second half of the financial year.
The company is also focusing on its subsidiary, Shipway, which operates in the courier aggregation space. Shipway reported revenue of Rs 25.1 crore for the quarter, with its annualized revenue run-rate crossing the Rs 100 crore mark. Although the subsidiary is currently loss-making at the net level, the company targets EBITDA-positive status by the December quarter and full net profitability by March. Success in this segment will depend on the company’s ability to cross-sell its services to existing clients and scale operations in newer markets like the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The main risks to track include execution uncertainty in international markets and competitive intensity in the e-commerce software sector. Additionally, because the company is currently investing heavily in product development and marketing, any delay in achieving the expected operational efficiency could keep profit margins under pressure. The path to profitability for the Shipway subsidiary remains a key milestone that investors will likely watch in the coming quarters.
