TV Time Founder Launches 'Bingers' App To Revive Fan Community

Antonio Pinto, co-founder of the popular tracking app TV Time, has launched a new platform called Bingers. This move follows the recent shutdown of TV Time by parent company Whip Media due to unsustainable server costs. The new app aims to restore the social features that its 26.4 million former users relied on.

Antonio Pinto, one of the original founders of the popular TV and movie tracking app TV Time, has officially launched a new platform named Bingers. This move comes shortly after the shutdown of the original TV Time app, which was discontinued by its parent company, Whip Media, on July 15, 2026. The closure of TV Time left millions of users without their primary tool for tracking shows and discussing content with fellow fans.

The Challenge of Sustainability

The original TV Time platform had built a large and loyal base, reaching over 26.4 million lifetime installations. However, despite this large user count, the business model proved difficult to sustain. According to founder Antonio Pinto, the subscription model for TV Time was unable to keep pace with the infrastructure requirements. Reports indicate that premium subscriptions for the original app covered only about 10% of the total server costs, making it a financial challenge for the parent company to maintain the service. This imbalance was a primary reason for Whip Media’s decision to pivot its focus toward enterprise artificial intelligence initiatives, leading to the app's discontinuation.

Bingers Strategy for Efficiency

Bingers is being introduced as a successor designed to address the specific financial and technical bottlenecks that impacted its predecessor. A key difference in the new application is its technical architecture. Pinto has noted that Bingers is built to load libraries and track information directly on the user’s mobile device rather than relying heavily on centralized company servers for every task. By shifting intensive processing tasks—such as viewing calendars and watchlists—from the server to individual phones, the app aims to significantly lower operational costs.

This approach is intended to make the platform more efficient and potentially easier to manage financially as it grows. The app also includes a data migration tool, allowing former TV Time users to import their viewing history and data, provided they had exported it using the GDPR-compliant tools made available before the previous app was removed from stores.

Future Monitorables

The success of Bingers will likely depend on whether it can successfully balance community engagement with long-term financial viability. While the app is now available on both iOS and Android, it faces the challenge of migrating a large, fragmented user base and proving that its new, efficient technical model can handle high traffic without the high costs that plagued TV Time. For those tracking the development, the key monitorable will be how the platform evolves its business model beyond direct user contributions, as the company explores long-term plans for real-world community engagement.
