Super Micro Targets Up To $72 Billion Revenue for FY2027

Super Micro Computer has forecasted fiscal 2027 revenue between $65 billion and $72 billion, driven by massive demand for AI servers. Despite a slight revenue miss in the recent quarter, the company’s record $60 billion backlog and improved profit margins have drawn significant investor attention.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) has set an ambitious growth target for fiscal year 2027, projecting annual revenues to range between $65 billion and $72 billion. This guidance highlights the company's confidence in the ongoing demand for AI-optimized servers, which are essential components for data centers supporting generative AI.

While the company is looking ahead to rapid growth, its recent performance shows the challenges of managing such a scaling business. For the fourth quarter ending June 30, 2026, the company reported revenue of $11.12 billion. This figure slightly missed analyst expectations of approximately $11.55 billion. The company explained that this shortfall was not due to a lack of customer interest, but rather temporary bottlenecks involving power, cooling, and networking infrastructure needed to install its servers.

Despite the revenue miss, profit margins provided a positive signal. Super Micro reported a non-GAAP gross margin of 17.6% for the quarter, which performed better than earlier expectations. This improvement was driven by a favorable mix of products sold and better operational efficiency. For investors, this suggests that the company is managing its costs effectively even while scaling up production.

Perhaps the most significant figure supporting the company's optimistic outlook is its record backlog of over $60 billion in new orders. This indicates that customers are heavily committed to the company's technology. However, this massive order book also brings a challenge: execution. Investors should monitor whether Super Micro can convert this backlog into revenue efficiently without facing further supply chain delays or cost overruns related to infrastructure constraints.

Super Micro is listed on the NASDAQ in the United States. Indian investors who track global technology trends can access the stock through various international brokerage platforms that allow investment in US markets. As the company works through its record backlog, the key monitorable for the coming quarters will be whether it can maintain its improved profit margins while successfully overcoming the power and cooling infrastructure limits that caused the recent revenue delay.

Looking forward, the company's ability to navigate external monitoring and export controls, as well as its consistency in converting orders into shipped products, will remain central to its financial performance. While the AI-driven demand appears strong, the stock has historically shown price volatility, and investors should account for the risks inherent in such a fast-growing, infrastructure-dependent sector.
