Sterlite Tech Targets ₹20,000 Crore Revenue By FY29

Sterlite Technologies has unveiled its 'Lakshya' roadmap, aiming to quadruple revenue to ₹20,000 crore by FY29 through a ₹3,000 crore expansion plan. The company plans to boost production capacity by 50% to meet global demand. Investors are now focusing on the company's ability to execute this rapid growth and achieve its ambitious margin improvement targets.

Sterlite Technologies (STL) has launched a strategic growth initiative titled 'Lakshya,' aimed at significantly scaling its business operations. The company has set a target to increase its consolidated revenue to ₹20,000 crore by the end of the 2029 financial year, a sharp rise from the ₹4,745 crore reported in FY26.

To support this growth, the company plans to invest ₹1,000 crore annually over the next three years, bringing the total capital expenditure to ₹3,000 crore. This investment is directed toward a 50% expansion in manufacturing capacity for optical fiber and cable products. The company aims to capitalize on the rising global demand for digital infrastructure, particularly from AI-driven data centers and traditional telecommunication networks.

Beyond revenue, management has set an ambitious target for profitability. The company is aiming for EBITDA margins—a measure of operational profit—to exceed 27% by FY29, up from 13.2% in FY26. Reaching this level will require a successful shift toward higher-value products and greater efficiency in its manufacturing processes.

Financial Health and Order Book

The company enters this growth phase with a strong demand pipeline. As of the first quarter of FY27, Sterlite Technologies reported a record open order book of ₹18,618 crore, which provides visibility for its operations. Additionally, the firm strengthened its balance sheet by raising ₹1,500 crore through a qualified institutional placement in July 2026. This move has helped the company reduce its debt and reach a net cash position, providing the necessary liquidity to fund its capital spending plans.

The announcement has caught market attention, with the stock recently experiencing multiple 5% upper circuits as traders reacted to the aggressive expansion plan.

Risks and Monitorables

While the roadmap is ambitious, achieving a 61% revenue growth rate over the next three years involves significant execution risk. Success depends on the company's ability to maintain high operational standards while rapidly scaling production. Furthermore, the company’s ability to meet its 27% margin target will be tested by its capacity to improve its product mix and successfully convert its large order book into profitable revenue.

Investors should closely track the progress of these capacity expansion projects, as well as quarterly margin performance. The sustainability of demand from AI data centers and the company's ability to manage costs amidst potential sector volatility will be crucial factors in determining whether the company meets its long-term financial goals.
