Sanya Sharma’s 'EquiSense AI' Wearable Cuts Horse Health Costs

A Gurugram student has developed 'EquiSense AI,' a wearable device to reduce the cost of monitoring horse health. The innovation has secured a paid order from Sterling Stables, aiming to compete with expensive imports. Important: This is an independent student project and is completely unrelated to the stock market-focused fintech brand 'EquiSense' run by Wealthveda Technology.

Sanya Sharma, a 12th-grade student from Gurugram, has developed a wearable technology platform called EquiSense AI designed to track and monitor the health of horses. The device aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to international products currently dominating the Indian equine care market. Sterling Stables has already validated the technology by placing a paid order for the units following successful testing.

The EquiSense AI device functions as a multi-sensor system capable of capturing vital indicators including heart rate, heart rate variability, body temperature, and movement patterns. By using an Inertial Measurement Unit and Electrodermal Activity sensors, the platform processes data through machine learning models to identify behavioral or physiological changes in horses. This allows caregivers to receive alerts during live events, potentially improving early health detection.

A significant value proposition for this innovation is the cost advantage over existing solutions. According to industry estimates, the prototype was developed at a hardware cost of approximately ₹8,000. In comparison, imported equine monitoring devices available in the market are typically priced between ₹25,000 and ₹28,000. By potentially lowering the entry barrier for such technology, the project aims to reduce India's reliance on high-cost imported medical tech in the equine sector.

It is important for market participants and investors to note that this project is an independent student-led initiative and does not represent a publicly listed company. There is a potential for brand name confusion, as the term 'EquiSense' is also used by Wealthveda Technology Private Limited, an unrelated entity that provides AI-driven financial analysis tools for the stock market. Because the two entities operate in entirely different industries—one in animal healthcare and the other in financial technology—readers should be careful not to conflate this equine innovation with the financial platform.

While the project has achieved early market validation with the order from Sterling Stables, scaling such technology will be the next major challenge. Transitioning from a successful prototype to a consistent commercial product often involves navigating supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution risks that larger, established players manage differently. Future updates regarding the product will likely focus on its performance in broader real-world applications and whether the developer can scale production to meet wider industry demand.
