Profound Raises $1.5M Seed Funding From Swiggy, Zomato Founders

Profound, an AI-native career platform, has secured $1.5 million in seed funding led by Stellaris Venture Partners and 3one4 Capital. Founded by former Swiggy and Zomato executives, the company aims to help professionals manage career opportunities through personalized AI representatives. Investors should note this move signifies a push toward AI-driven recruitment tools, though the startup is in the early stages of product development.

Profound, a startup building AI-native career tools, has officially entered the market with $1.5 million in seed funding. The company was founded by Anuj Rathi, formerly of Swiggy, and Prashant Parashar, who brings experience from firms including Zomato, Flipkart, and Ola. This capital injection aims to scale the startup's product and engineering teams as it prepares for a global expansion strategy.

The platform's primary product is the AI Representative, or AI Rep, which uses voice-based interactions to understand a user's professional background, skills, and decision-making style. Unlike traditional career platforms that rely on static resumes or keyword-based profiles, Profound claims its engine uses this deeper context to facilitate career matches and networking. For organizations, the company intends to offer these AI tools to streamline talent acquisition and internal collaboration.

Backing from Tech Founders and Institutional Investors

The funding round attracted significant interest from key figures within the Indian technology and startup ecosystem. Early-stage backers include Swiggy co-founders Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy, along with early Zomato leader Pankaj Chaddah and Razorpay CEO Harshil Mathur. Institutional participation came from Stellaris Venture Partners and 3one4 Capital, both of which are prominent investors in the Indian startup space. These firms have previously backed various SaaS and consumer-tech ventures, and their involvement suggests a focus on the platform's potential to address inefficiencies in professional discoverability and hiring.

Operational Goals and Market Strategy

Profound has stated that the newly acquired funds will be directed toward building out its proprietary matching engine and enhancing its voice-AI technology. The company's roadmap includes building a network of founding users with an ambitious target of onboarding one million professionals globally before its broader beta launch.

From a business perspective, the company is positioning itself in the growing segment of AI-enabled professional services. While the sector has seen a surge in interest due to advancements in large language models and voice AI, startups in this space often face challenges related to user adoption, the quality of AI-driven recommendations, and competition from established professional networking platforms like LinkedIn.

Investors and observers should monitor how Profound manages the transition from product development to large-scale user acquisition. Key factors for the company’s success will include its ability to prove the accuracy of its matching engine, data privacy management, and its ability to integrate with existing enterprise hiring workflows. As the product moves toward a public beta, the company’s ability to maintain high engagement levels and demonstrate actual hiring or networking success for its users will be the primary metric for its growth.
