OpenAI has introduced GPT-Live, a new voice feature for ChatGPT that allows for simultaneous speaking and listening. This upgrade enables natural, real-time interruptions and routes complex queries to the GPT-5.5 model, aiming to make AI interactions feel more like human conversation.

OpenAI has officially released GPT-Live, an advanced voice interface for its ChatGPT platform. The core technical shift is the move to a full-duplex architecture, which allows the system to listen and speak at the same time. Previously, voice-based AI often required a turn-taking approach, where the user had to wait for the AI to finish its entire response before offering feedback or corrections.
